Decals wanted

Hello, i'm new here. This is my first post. I'm sorry if i'm posting in the wrong place? I tried to post in the section "Want to Buy" but it's only allowed to post to paid membership only and i can't afford it just to post a question on a forum.

I got for free this old Gitane bike that i wish to restore, so i was wondering if there's any way to buy the exact same decals for a reasonable price (sub $50)? What year/model Gitane is it?
Thank you!

They look slightly different than the average Gitane Grand Sport decals - if you look on the seat post, there are extra stripes under/above the triangle parts?

It lists a bunch of prices for stickers for different places, which if you add up comes out to about $100 for the whole bike, is that correct?? I thought even $50 for bike decals was waay too much!

You have to go the $46 link on ebay for the full set.

The incremental cost of making the NEXT set is low, but consider the effort to create the digital art and inventory the materials that come in larger quantities plus the care and feeding of the machine and operator. In that reality, $46. is cheap.

It is a separate argument that the whole bike is worthy of that attention. I would clean it up, service the bike well and keep the messed up foil graphics that are there, fool graphics are always tender.

Yeah, sorry about that. That's the 'ala carte' options page. They have the full set here:GITANE Grand Sport (sku 108)

Looks to be the same set that kc0yef pointed you to on ebay. This is just directly from the manufacturer.

As for the price. That's a 30-40 year old bicycle. The fact that someone is making near-perfect reproduction decals at all is impressive. I think $50 is entirely reasonable. You could always go and buy a new carbon fiber cannondale for $5k!

Ditto. I was thankful someone was actually making them. I got my Gitane stickers/decals from Greg at Cyclomondo, and they are very good.

If copies didn't exist, cost would be a min of $100 for one set. It is more complex than copy/paste.

It can be difficult to profit from bicycle restorations. Careful cleaning, gentle rust removal, and lubrication is the best/fastest/cheapest way to get a return for investment. Next... is finding/using appropriate parts like saddle, handlebar tape, brake pads, derailleurs, and so forth.

New paint and decals can be more a labor of love... than a profitable investment.
