No fan of this reading, but the other I found was worse.
By AB 'Banjo' Patterson. If you know Robert Service (The Cremation of Sam McGee) you'll find them rather similar.
Patterson was Australian, wrote of the 'less sophisticated'.
He's best known for Waltzing Matilda and The Man from Snowy River.

Ah Ed, we'd get along just fine with a couple of beers and a camp fire. How about Bill the Bomber or Blasphemous Bill MacKie? Service sure did like the Bills as much as Banjo did.

Do you know Peter Ustinov's Grand Prix du Roc (AKA Grand Prix of Gibraltar). Hysterically funny. I once had the great good fortune to spend some time in front of a fire with another who knew it. One of us would start to quote some lines and the other would collapse into hysterics. The unknowing just looked at us like we were nuts.
