Calling Cannondale experts unique old Mtn bike Frame and Fork

I just dug an old Cannondale Mtn bike frame out of storage to scavenge some parts off of it and I'm looking for info. Will post pics once I clean it up a little, but some background in the mean time:

I got the frame and fork used from a riding partner in 1989. SN info indicates that it is a 22" frame made 4/22/87. It is unique in that it takes a 26" front wheel and 24" rear.

Pics to follow later this afternoon...

I had a yellow one back in the day with the 24/26 set up. Cool bikes.

I think the 26" front/24" rear was from the very first years of Cannondale mountain bikes. They called it "Beast of the East" since the smaller rear wheel, plus an extra-high bottom bracket, made it more suitable for "Eastern" technical trails versus "Western" jeep trails and fire roads.

OK, looked at 1987 catalogue on vintage cannondale site and based on the color and 24" rear it was an SM600.....

The later fad was a 69er. 29er wheel in the front and a 26 wheel in the back.

It actually works quite well even though the front wheel is larger than the rear wheel!
