Old School Tunturi Finland Mountain Bike
This is for reference in case others may ever wonder about the Tunturi line of bikes. Getting back into M-biking and stumbled across this MB at a flea market for 25.00. I fixed the bike up and customized it for my likes. The Tunturi Co. is a very old company in Finland. They make quality bikes, mopeds and exercise equipment. However they mainly only sell to the European market, hence they are rare in the USA.
This is a 26'er model M 600 MB that is circa. 1988. I did see one of these with the original country of origin manufacturer sticker on it, these were made in Taiwan for Tunturi. The three main tubes on the frame are Chr Mo. Has Weinmann rims and a good Shimano set of components. The bike is quality and rides with smoothness and precision due to the fact that it was designed by a company that has much experiance in the design of bikes. I did take this bike on moderate single track expecting to be in for a rough ride after riding for so long on full suspension. I was very surprised that it was not a rough ride at all, in fact it did not hurt a bit. However on more intense singletrack full of drops and serious rocks it would no doubt be tough ride.
The bottom line is that this bike is not some incredible high end MB but on the other hand it is not a low end Huffy either. It sits in the middle of the spectrum and sometimes the middle is fun.

Nice. I see Tunturi bikes all the time here in Sweden, and my daily ride is a Finnish Helkama. I never saw a Finnish bike in the USA!

Would it count if I'm a vintage Finn riding a vintage mountain bike?
Finland makes some some nice things.

Great Tunturi Bike
I had this exact bike, my mum got it for me around 1989-1990. I rode it plenty in the Santa Cruz mountains and was quite happy with it (before everyone decided they needed full suspension to ride down a hill). I wish I could find another of this same model. It would be quite perfect for the trail riding I do now.
