I picked these two pair up in 1978 while competing in Poland. They were hand crafted by an old Polish shoe maker, named Zadrozny.
Made to look like Addidas so that the Pole's would use them. They still fit like a glove using the finest of soft leather.

I actually took my inaugural ride with my Cannondale shoes yesterday... I expected my socks to turn blue like they used to with the old Addidas shoes like that.

I'm not sure if they were better or anything than the shoes I usually wear (North Face "Scend") but it was kind of fun. In an early 80s sort of way.

I've been looking for some vintage shoes for awhile, but they only seem to come in really small sizes.

6's, 7's seem to abound. It's pretty rare to find something in a 10 or better and when you do, they are awfully expensive! I guess evolution has made us much bigger, well, make that fatter, over the last 30-40 years...

I think it's mostly that most all of the "normal", or most common sizes, those between 9 and 11, have long since been sold.
Not many men with size 6 or seven shoe size, so there's lots of them left.

Wow, those are quite nice. I'm tempted, even though I don't really need them. In great size too.

As I have no interest in going clipless I am always looking for vintage 'touring' style shoes. Thanks for threads like this that let me know what else might be out there...like I didn't know Adidas had made this type of shoe. Something else to add to my eBay search list! :thumb:

I have a pair of the Avocet Touring Model 30, size 8.5, which turned out to be too small. Like the design and feel though, just need a larger size, and would be happy to trade with someone who has say a 9 or 9.5. I've got them listed in the ISO thread.

Also have Bata Bikers, the black/yellow 'Style 4' as shown in schwinnderella's photo. These are marked "9-9.5" and fit okay, but the feel is a little weird to me, the heel feels too loose and wobbly to walk comfortably.

I have had these Avocet Touring 20s for about 30 years. I don't use them much anymore, since I have SPD on my main bikes, but I wore them last week when I took my son's bike out.

I wore out all of the Avocet Touring shoes I owned, and I would really like to find a near-equivalent replacement. Thanks for the suggestions in this thread.

I currently make do with a pair of Diadora mountain biking shoes, which are nearing wear-out, as well as a pair of skate or freestyle bike shoes.

Here's the first of (I hope) a couple/few pair, and these coincidentally are 4 sale! What are the odds, right?
Detto (Pietro) with stiff plastic soles and plastic Pavarin cleats, they are/were too small for me and not ever going to stretch out to fit glove-snug.
I can find NO size number on them, which may explain why I bought the wrong size, so all I can offer a potential buyer is that the soles measure exactly 278mm from toe to heel (my guess is they are about a size 42, I usually wear a 44 give or take). PM me if you have any interest...

Thanks to all who posted the Bata Bikers images. I couldn't remember what they were until I saw this thread. I had a few pairs of those (the gray-colored ones) and thought they were much better than sneakers/tennis shoes back in the late 1970s/1980s. Too bad Bata stopped making them. I'm not a fan of clipless systems, I just used a pair of court shoes and BMX-stlyle 'pinned' pedals for riding these days.

I have 10 -15 pairs, most under size 40. These were water damaged in transit. The tops look fine. Most are in their original boxes, which, as one can see, are far from pristine.

Pastor Bob, one pair, any size, has your name on it. Let me know.

One last post from me on this thread. These shoes are worn and I have no idea of the brand. Check out the cleats! They were given to me by Hank Sima who was a professional 6 day rider in the late 30's. He told me he wore these during those years. Hank is not a well known rider but there is a half page on in him in the book "six days of madness". He partnered with some well known riders. I was lucky to meet him some years before he passed and he related lots of racing stories to me. I always enjoyed visiting with him.

I think 48 and 42 are the > size 40 choices. I'll check.

The Looks get used regularly, as they are very comfortable.

NOS, came complete with the matching proprietary pedals. Very nice, but I only use them with the bike that's got these pedals mounted.
