    Tre 750 Multitrack Time Capsule

I have been searching for a Trek 750 Multitrack with a lugged frame for quite awhile. I have never seen one in our local CL so I advertised that I wanted to buy one. I have had the ad up for over a month. Last week I got a call from someone who had one that his father bought new and gave to him about 2008. It was not his kind of bike and he never rode it. The next day I went to his place of business to take a look at it. I found it to be pristine with hardly a scratch on it. It had a Blackburn rack, a dorky Avocet saddle with its cloth cover starting to come off and period lighting and computer. The knobby 700 x 35 tires were old but have plenty of tread. I was able to pick it up for $175.
I was inspired to want one by Peter Lombardi’s blog:
    nearly a year later, Trek 750 Multitrack?blog.peterlombardi.com | blog.peterlombardi.com
As you can see, he spared no expense with high line components.
One tire would not air up so I replaced a tube and took it for a short ride in my neighborhood. The SunTour Accushift drive train still indexes perfectly. It had an extremely solid high quality feel. I think there are a lot of areas where I could pare down the weight on this bike. For now I will service all the bearings and probably install some 700 x 38 Panaracer Pasela tires.

Holy ****, that's throwing money at a bike right there!

It's beautiful- and dazzling. My eyes went right to the Tubus racks, and then... all over.

I'm guilty of throwing money at a bike- but it SHOWS on there.

Looks like you got a nice bike. I would have thought in Austin, it would have been more expensive. I am interested in a 720 myself to make a drop bar ride. May try placing an ad and see what comes my way. Thanks for posting the pics and inspiration.

I have been looking for a 23" version for a while now. Most of them are pretty banged up, but that is because they make great do everything bikes. Yours looks to be in great shape and I love the Suntour group.

I think I got it for at least $75 under Austin's market value. I offered $130, he countered $175, done.

Nice ride. I have a '94 750 multi that is a nice smooth ride and just a lot of fun. Not nearly that pretty yet but I need to do some work on it. I'm thinking I'll do a drop bar conversion down the road. I bought it for commuting during college before I knew anything about bikes and just got lucky; thought about selling it to raise money for other bike projects but I doubt I'd get much out of it locally and I'd really just rather keep it for now. It's like number 3 or 4 on my project list but it'll get there.

Fantastic machine! I picked up a 790 a few months back off of Austin CL. I'm currently trying to decide if it ends up with drops or vo porteur bars. Congrats on yours!

A drop bar conversion is someting I am considering. I wonder how much weight could be lost replacing the chrome moly handlebars with aluminum drops. Some Accushift Barcons would be nice with the drops.

    Nice bike!
I also like those Trek 750's
Too bad no Trek 750 lover isn't close to me in NOLA
I haven't been able to get $20 for this frame locally-
I think it had no takers at $10
It is the wrong size 17" for me
I would trade it for almost nothing-but no takers locally.
    Muffin-not for sale.

I've got two 1995 Trek 730's and they are great bikes! The catalog weight for the 730 (if it really has any meaning) was just over 25 lbs so your 750 should be easy to lighten up.

    I am very jealous

I too am looking for a '93 or earlier Trek 750 or 790 (lugged). I have a '93 950 (keeper) in similar condition to your 750, and a '95 930 in great condition too - plan to sell as it is TIG.

    Do this for me...

I want to do an early hybrid with trekking bars. You know, the butterfly bars. Build it all up- I'll say thumbshifters- XC Pro, XC Comp, XC D/T. Take a metric ****-ton of pictures and let me live vicariously through that!
