Holy something or other, is that a fine machine! I remember not understanding what all the fuss about that Norman that landed in @photogravity's capable hands. Then I met the bike in the flesh, and I understood. But now this. Wow. This time, the picture does capture the refinement for me.

Oh no not me... too small and being off work for 7 weeks has crimped my budget. Great looking bike though.

Cool bike, though pretty little. I'm not entirely convinced the frame is straight.

Precious little. Something's catching the light, at the lower head lug, the way a bulged tube would. The paint on the tops of the tubes seems stressed at that location. And the head lugs seem poorly aligned with the tubes. Convincing? No, not hardly. But having once made the mistake of having a bent frame shipped to me from UK, I am pretty suspicious of little warning signs like this.

Wow! suddenly all this gushing about a bike with a bent fork??...

Sorry for my ignorance, as I would have never imagined that somebody else thought of the wiggly fork legs before Pinarello did a few years ago......

I just bought a Bates BAR from CL Seattle and was delivered two days ago. This was a "continuation" frame from 1999 and built by master frame builder Ron Cooper. I rode it tonight and rides quite well but I keep trying to move the brake to shift and nothing happens. The prior owner set the bike up with early 80's Campy Record and Nuovo Record with 50/42 and 12/24, which won't work for me as I live at the steep end of CT. The friction shifting is on the down tube and only 6 speeds. I will ride alone until I figure all this out and get use to the big Brooks Professional "chair" that was on the bike. I grew up on steel bikes and migrated to ti and now carbon fiber. However, I go for "joy rides" on the old bikes just for the heck of it and have a big smile too.

Hypnosis is said to be good to cure that muscle memory problem. 6 is plenty, you racing? Most guys on modern bikes shift way too often, all those gears, they must feel one of them must be the perfect one. Us old guys with 5 or 6 at play know better, it will either be too big or too small.
