I have the medium. The Jalco wheelset is decent and I had mine rebuilt with double butted Swiss DT spokes. Still going strong after several years.
The 2006 model has a NLightened alloy frame with a carbon fork and the ride is sweet and compliant. It makes a good all-around commuter and the BB7 brakes with mechanical discs are very nice!
They're selling a few remaining closeout models. Don't be put off by their Taiwan origin. Good welds and a frame that lends itself to being upgraded. Original MSRP was $1200.

Those 2006 Super Sports seem to be a much better deal than the similar $450 "Gravity Liberty CXD" bikes currently sold at Bikesdirect website. The componentry as you indicated is more appropriate at a price closer to it's msrp., making these admittedly somewhat of a bargain if you can get one in your size.

On my SS I had to rebuild the original rear Weinmann wheel because some of the spokes had been replaced. Learned this after trying to true it which I had very little experience with. I measured the original spokes at my co-op (306 mm), ordered a set and laced up the Weinmann. After a few tries to true it I took it to my LBS for some help. They didn't want to work on it because the rim was so out of round though they were surprised to see I had laced it four cross. I just followed Sheldon's advice and learned yet another cool thing. Next I bought a Sun CR18 27" rim, laced it loosely and the LBS dialed it in. Got expensive but seems to ride very well. I'm running all original equipment with Michelin World Tour 27 x 1 1/4 tires and chrome fenders. I like fat tires.

I can tell from the pictures you posted previously that your bike is a fillet-brazed Super Sport by the bullet pointed shape of the tops of the seat stays as well as the triangular cutouts in the stamped dropouts. The tops of the seat stays on the Varsity/Continental were rounded and the dropouts had no cutouts.

$150 is a great price for a minty fillet brazed Schwinn. You did well.

I was going to mention the round vs. oval badges but I didn't want to get into all the caveats. <g> I have seen several examples of Continentals with Super Sport decals and badges and at least one example of a genuine Super Sport with a factory installed oval badge. And as you mention the early EF frames also had round badges, more specifically the 1960 through '66 Continental and '62-'66 Varsity had round badges, and from '62-'66 I believe they were the same badges as on the Superior and Super Sport during those years.

Do tell about the Super Sport-badged Continental!
Did the factory perhaps do this? Might create serious buyer remorse and even legal action if they did!

Just click on the link in my previous post and you'll see!
Unlike the unique factory oval "Continental" badged Super Sport I mentioned (click on the link in my previous post to see more) the several Super Sport badged (and decaled) Continentals I've seen have all been acts of either deception or ignorance. In the specific example I linked you can see that while they tried to hide the evidence (e.g. filled and crudely touched up the oval badge holes) the ruse would have been obvious to anybody knowing these bikes. Of course few people other than OCD Schwinn fanatics know them well enough to spot these kinds of things so the deception is often successful. <g>

Also, the SS just looks more "normal" than the Varsity family, with steeper geometry and 27" wheels.

Can the SS BE used as a legit touring bike? Can I attach panniers to front and back, if I changed it to a tripple derailure instead of a double?

I don't see why not, they are sturdy and comfortable. Maybe someone who has experience with one will chime in.

I know the front does not have eyelets on the middle of forks, but can a rack still be installed on front?

I've seen front racks that attach with d-rings, I'm sure you could get one installed without to much trouble.
