Reminds me of the 1986 diamondback apex I owned briefly.
It had a roller cam under the chain stays.
After owning it I really started appreciating these early mountain bikes.

No heelstrike worries there, even with the largest of panniers.
Mtbs usually are cheap here, ime. Unless Bridgestone mb3 or less, or other highly desirable makes/models.
