Now, if they would just do a solid matte black version of the new, more affordable, Synthe inspired Foray, we would probabaly be about as close as possible:

Anyone want to design a 5 or 6 rib, solid black helmet with a rounded rear end?

As long as it fits and he likes it, that's cool.

I've seen a few around town and they have distinctive looks.

I tend to stick with what works/fits for me and don't pay as much attention to the looks though.

I have been riding Bells. Specifically Sweeps and Volts.

Very nice helmets. They fit well and they don't weigh a ton.

Also, I can find them on sale for decent prices.

For this next year I am thinking about their new Volt XC and the Super 2 MIPS.

I ride off road most often and I have come to rely on the visor as an important feature.

So, not so C&V, but still performance oriented like the one Giacomo showed us.
Thanks Grady.

This is one of the few helmets out there that had me intrigued. I looked at it for quite awhile before buying it, wondering if I wanted to be so unique, but I finally decided that yes, unique is good, so I pulled the trigger and I'm glad I did. It has created quite a reaction, some good, some not, but that's OK, everyone is different. Who knows, maybe I'm on the cutting edge, or maybe this helmet will be just a distant memory as it goes in the dustbin of history.

Took my first ride in the helmet and I have to say it felt right. I forgot I had it on my head, which in my book, is a good thing. It was a humid day, but the ventilation was excellent, and it was light, snug, comfortable, and stable on the head, all great things in a helmet. I even forgot I was wearing a "different" type of helmet, so I'm guessing the uniqueness of this lid will quickly be forgotten after a couple of rides.

Going for another ride on Saturday, so I'll try and get some pics now that I have it "right"...

Nice one, especially for a buck!

I have the Giro below, which goes very well with one of my winter jerseys which is below -

Now that's not a bad looking helmet right there. My '90s Nashbar looks similar but cheaper uncovered foam on the bottom below the hardshell and with straighter vents. Gotta wear a thick sweatband with it to fit but I've always worn a sweatband anyway.

Well I just picked up this BSI helmet on Ebay in what I hope to be my size (M/L) for $7 plus shipping. There are just a few others in their "Vintage Bicycle Helmet" search thread but this one might be the only one I like that might fit. Looks like Velognome beat us to the best of the bargains.

It's hard to improve on a classic:

Rides with me on my '88 Sirrus

But I really like those Bandbox Helmets - neat idea!

You know that helmet would be considered UCI legal? With that 'helmet cover' on there, it would be "Too Aero":-)

Yes, I have seen this with Apple devices in particular.

The standards for embedding EXIF into digital photos describe bazillions of different fields, most of which are ignored by 99% of the software out there. When an Apple device takes a photo, rather than rotate the photo to match the position in which it is being held, it just alters the EXIF data to state which way the photo should be oriented. So someone looking at the photo on a non-Apple device may see a different orientation than someone with an Apple device.

I have that same helmet, with a blue panel where the white/grey are. It's the Giro Air Attack Shield, which has the magnetic removable face shield. Outstanding for those of us with Rx glasses that can't seem to be made by Rudy Project or the other firms for less than the price of a new bike. Mine was 99.99 on sale at REI. I bought it on the heels of two new helmets, both bought when Performance blew out their Livestrong Giro's. Both of those were $200+ helmets for 89.99 on the clearance table. I ended up selling one and keeping the CF version for a backup.

The Air Attack has webbing inside, so you don't get that creepy foam-head contact. Air flows through those surprisingly small vents and you can feel it run over your scalp. Much cooler than any helmet I've had. My glasses do not fog up inside that shield, and I bought the clear shield to go with it, which is also a Carl Zeiss and has a slight mirror exterior treatment.

I noticed Team Sky wearing them, but they were wearing the Air Attack, not the Air Attack Shield. Not sure why, perhaps being paid to wear sunglasses has something to do with it.

I see Bell, which owns Giro, is now marketing a similar one in flat black with red accents.

It also has room for the aluminum foil lining, should you be so motivated.

Oh yeah, but yours doesn't fold like mine does!

But seriously, I do like that helmet and seriously was considering it, but I didn't see it for anywhere near $99.99 anywhere. Garmin Sharp is using the POC helmets that were shown in this thread earlier. None of the pro teams seem to have caught on to the Carrera foldable helmet yet, but I'm sure the Sky "hipster" team is looking at them for next years TDF!

After a couple of rides with my Carrera, I'm sold on it. It was a good purchase and it works well and apparently looks good to, as 2 other riders seemed to like it. Yayyyy!
