sounds like a fairy tale; all chrome '60s Cinelli found in a load of construction trash! But that's the kind of fairy tale we all wish would come true for US! You hit the lottery, indeed, congrats.
Now take your winnings and buy a better camera so you can give us some more (sharp) eye-candy!

BTW: assuming we are right about what you found: do NOT lose that seat pinch bolt, and the seat post size should be 26.2, if that size fits the seat tube, then...Cinelli!

Can't believe anyone would trash such a thing, even if they knew nothing about vintage bikes. You've done the world a service by saving it.

Okay, very cool. To sum up what I've learned from the various pictures and posts above:

If there are two holes on the head tube, then for sure a head badge was removed; which means the head tube decals are not original. Therefore the seat tube decal is presumably also not original. Decals don't generally stick to chrome very well, so the absence of Cinelli decals doesn't really mean anything.

Obviously this frame has been through a lot. Any of the parts attached to it may have been added later. The various Suntour parts therefore tell us nothing about the frame.

The spring hole over the derailleur mounting hole is significant and means the dropout was made to accommodate a Campagnolo Sport derailleur. This doesn't mean the frame was made with that derailleur in mind; a better derailleur was always an option. And it's possible the frame was made after the Sport derailleur was no longer available, if the maker had a stock of older dropouts on hand. So, whoever made this frame, it was made before the supply of older dropouts was exhausted, so by the mid 60's or so.

It is well known some manufacturers made close copies of Cinelli frames. Windsor, for example. Any others?

I think it is an early to mid 60s Cinelli. This doesn't have wolf ear lugs but does have the bottom oiler and GS hole. iirc, Raysport and Windsor copies started production in the late 60s and all had the 2 or 3 holes in the lugs.

OMG, simply amazing.

IIRC there was a trash guy that found a SBDU bike in someone's trash. He stuck it in the cab and, I think, sold it on ebay.

Hard to believe, harder if I'd been the finder, LOL.

Yes, early 60's Cinelli SC

Very nice find.

When did Cinelli start using the internal lugged fork crown?

Not to mention other characteristics which do not appear on this frame and therefore eliminate it as a Raysport of Windsor.

All chrome in that period? Is there any chance this was chromed later when things were changed? It seems like someone updated it in the 1970s. For example, there is a shimano crane RD shown in one of the photos... so someone obviously made some changes and put decals on, maybe the headbadge was considered heavy and uncool in the 1970s as builders went to decals. Either way you hit the big one, even without original parts... the frame and fork alone as a huge find.

Also, the headset is not the correct vintage for the frame, so it is presumably a replacement also.

Ah, but it was all chrome under the paint to begin with so it would seem the original paint could have been stripped and it was just kept all chrome (which was cool in the early 1970s) and a 1970s update (crane derailleur) would make sense for an update given that doubles and many many more alloy parts were being used at that time... so it seems all pretty coherent.

I appreciate all the feedback and information about my find, It's been a big help. Thanks. When i saw this frame and fork in the debris pile i was initially interested in the side pull brakes (The reason i stopped.) to use on one of my vintage BMX bikes or cruisers. I didn't think anything of it due to the frame being covered in grime and some surface rust and a generic looking cheap mountain bike rim being next to it. When i got home i noticed the Campagnolo headset and bottom bracket and construction of the frame that i realized i found something, However not knowing a lot about vintage road bikes i didn't know what. I will try to get some better pictures of it up this weekend when i figure out how.

Does anyone know if the serial #s on these bikes contain any information?

Serial numbers are a quagmire. Try Cinelli Registry

Yeah, study the seat cluster and bb cluster. Looks like a Cinelli. We would all like to thank you for saving that bike!
Cinelli Model B ~1965 | velociao

BTW, I can't remember the guys name or shop, but the first importer of Cinelli in the USA was in Los Angeles I think, in the 60's. It's a very famous shop that is still there and the guy promoted some of the first big road races in the US.

This appears to be a Cinelli from the mid 70s or earlier. The lack of brazed on ****ers and curve of the fork lead me to that.

Cupertino bike shop in San Francisco started importing Cinellis in 1955. I can't speak about any LA shops.

When i look at the details of the bike in the link, The forks are different but a lot of the frame details look the same.

I'm undecided on what to do with it, I all ready have a couple of projects going, Before i decide i'll have to find out what it's worth and go from there, Depending on it's value i might be interested in selling or trading for a vintage bmx bike, If anyone has a 1970s Champion or pre-1984 bmx cruiser i'd be interested in hearing from you. Being a newbie on the Forum i'm unable to respond to P.M.'s until i have enough points.
