If you have any interest in road biking, and it's your size, I would greatly encourage you to keep it and build it up. Ride it. You might like it.

I agree, besides if you try to sell it on the forum it's likely going to start a knife fight.

I understand where your coming from, Unfortunately i have some nagging injuries that keep me off anything with drop bars, The closest i can get to a road bike is my Cannondale Quick with flat bars. If i don't sell or trade it will make a cool piece of wall art in the garage.

Cinelli Model B ~1965 | velociao"

When i look at the details of the bike in the link, The forks are different but a lot of the frame details look the same.
The bike in your link is a Model B. Your bike is the SC or Super Corsa (or Special Corsa due to an error with the decal vendor). Also known as a Model A. Your bike is the "better" of the two types and has what is called a full-sloping fork crown. The Model B has a flat fork crown. That is why they are different.

Cupertino bike shop used to be owned by Spence Wolf, and I think a fair percentage of the Cinellis imported into the west coast region of the U.S. (possibly the whole country?)came through him. The new owner of the shop has the records of past sales and is a vintage bike appreciator himself. He was very helpful the one time I called him and took some time with me figuring out that my bike was not in the records. The records are not digital so try to narrow the year down as closely as you can before you contact if you choose to do so. You are in the right part of the country so it might have come through there.

The serial numbers are infuriating. It seems like they used blocks of numbers from time to time but I own one from the late fifties that had a number that was less than 100 away from one that was from the seventies.

I also do not have a knife in this fight. There are times when I would have been but, while I could possibly swing the frame, the cost in money and time of a top of the line sixties build seems daunting right now.

It is my understanding that Mr. Cinelli had no rhyme or reason with serial numbers to avoid the tax man. Well organized serial numbers very easily show production and sales numbers. Random numbers makes totals for the year or quarter harder to pin down.

But since I didn't hear that from the man himself, take it for what its worth.

That is a cause I can get behind. Fight the taxman. I also bet that he didn't expect people to be parsing the minutia of his frames fifty years from the original build.

Today i heard back from Vance at the Cupertino Bike Shop, Their records show that the bike was purchased at their shop on 8/1/1961 by someone in the bay area. It's a Super Corsa and it's original color is listed as chrome. I'd like to thank Vance and the Cupertino Bike Shop for looking this up, It's pretty cool that they keep records of these now vintage bikes and are willing to take the time to share it.
