Somec fork problem

I ve took a risk and bought this frameset, beside color and rough condition how often do you get a chance to ride one of these, Somec Mercury

after removing headset I discovered this

Box the fork up and ship it to a country where you can get it repaired.

That's is too bad but I agree it is an easy fix for a experienced frame builder. They can simply cut about the half the steerer off and braze/weld a new section on. You can also have it made longer to enable you to have more headset choices.

Grafting a fork is pretty standard for a good frame builder: Fork Repair...grafting a steerer tube - YouTube
I'm pretty sure @FrankThewelder can do it, if you want someone on this forum.

I believe that Mr Taverna in Padua (Italy) could repair this kind of damage and I know for sure that replies to e-mail costumer's requests.
