Need help identifying what derailleur would match 1984 Bianchi

So I have a Bianchi Campione D'Italia celeste that has a 12$ rear derailleur on it. I want to match the dura ace crank and front derailleur that I think originally came on it. They both just say dura ace. I believe my Bianchi was made in 1984. It is columbus chro-mo, made in Italy, and super set 2. Also, the brakes are Shimano 600s.

Welcome. I don't know the exact answer to your question, however here is a link to the velobase website where you can look up vintage components, etc. Hope this is helpful to you in your search.

Just look on the backside of the crank arms, it will tell you what series Dura Ace you have: 7100, 7200 or 7400. Then pick the appropriate model derailleur. If your bike is truly 1984, and the Dura Ace is truly original, not 7400 as it came out a year later.

Thanks a lot! I figured out it is 7400. I have 6 cogs in the back, so should I get (6sp)?

Shimano Dura Ace Derailleur Rear RD 7400 Short Cage Road Bike Tour 6 7 Speed | eBay

Is this worth investing into, or should I get a modern dura ace?

7400 series is my favorite group, I like it better than any newer Dura Ace. The "big" question is what model shift levers do you have? If you have 6 speed Dura Ace shifters, then you will need a 7400 series RD.

I have just replacement carbon shifters. Would I need matching shifters? The bike has downtube shifters and the guy at the bike shop said that I only need to match them when they are friction shifters.

No, just the opposite, you only have to match them when you want them to index.

Please don't confuse ebay "asking" prices with "selling" prices. Many sellers never get their ask price. some are far from it. Value is determined once an item actually SELLS. Its easy enough to check SOLD prices.

That's right. My Bianchi grizzly has index deore shifters. So getting then dura ace rear derailleur should be fine by itself. I don't mind having the low end shifters on there. I just don't want a clunky 12$ shifter to weigh down my ride.
