I have read most of what there is about this brand but still not sure if it may be SL. I am thinking the version with chrome fork and Super Record was SLX. The remnants of the Columbus decal is there.

This is as found. I gave it a spin but don't want to do anything else before a tear down and bearing grease. And a serious cleaning. Would it be a Colnago branded Campy headset or something else?

Thanks bane. The tear down will began as soon as it's less than 900º here in SoCal. I went on a ride this morning at 6:35 am to try and beat the heat. Bring on November!!!

I read somewhere on the internet that SLX was "helically-*****d" on the inside surface of the tubes, and SL was not.
That general statement should bring out someone who knows the facts.

I believe SLX is rif.led (this is ridiculous) in the seat and down tubes close to the bottom bracket as well as the bottom portion of the steerer tube. Straight reinforcements in the chainstays as well. SL is rif.led in the steerer tube only. Pull the BB and shine an LED/light in the side of the BB shell while viewing from the top of the seat tube.

Rif.led = helically reinforced; helical grooves similar to a rif.le barrel. *****.

These were made by (some of) the same hands that built frames for Ernesto Colnago, but these went to SoCal and Marcel Calborne's shop. Looks like you probably have an SL frame, and the main clue will be the seat post size, plus your visual (and digital) check for rifling in the butted ares of the 3 main tubes at the BB shell. IIRC, the Colnago branded HS had some weird dimensions, closer to BMX than standard Italian road HS...
