Funny thing: the 1000 I had earlier this year also had a flat-bar conversion done on it. Jim Muller set me up with the proper SR rando bar and I was able to restore it to factory spec before finding it a new home.

Too bad that was just a little too small for me.

Did it go to a good home?

Unsure what to do? I say slap a set of Nitto Rando bars, some planet bike fenders on it and go see the world!

Am I seeing things, or did you put Huffy decals on a titanium(?)-framed bike???

Nice Miyata! I've put lots of off-road miles on the 1970's "Gran Touring" models, and on my '84 six-ten. They are durable and seem to take 700c wheels ok.

Nope - that's what I did. Love that bike.

It also features my favorite head badge, thanks to Jen Green.

This bike would be too much trouble to convert back to drop bars, because of the shifters. Leave it as it is and sell it.

Bike hoarding is a tendency we established about you long ago. This is not news.

Why?

Seems entertaining enough to me.

Nice find!

There's a nice one at work that I eye from time to time, it sat for 3 weeks without moving and just when I was going to put a note on it asking if they would ever consider selling it, it went on the lam. It's done it before, so I'm hoping it shows up again and I can put that note on it, and I've never seen the owner.

It's all ready for touring, fenders, rack etc. Loaded with Deerhead geartrain (triple no less!), all I would do would be add a different stem and bars and move the shifters to the downtube (they're on the stem). A guy can dream...

You other C&V brothers can't deny...
When a bike turns up with a cro-moly frame
and a French or Italian name...

You get sprung

Nice pickup, Aaron! A really nice, well-conceived, versatile, all-purpose bike. Someone (whom I haven't yet had a chance to meet) occasionally parks the same model in a shared bike cage in the parking garage at the building where I work. His has a nice Alp d'Huez brooks (like the one you also own, IIRC), and is nicely-equiped with bar-end shifters and a Sugino triple. I've often lingered over his/her bike before heading upstairs to start the work day. Dig the scalloped stays, too.

Are you sure it's an 87 model? 'Cause I think I'm pretty sure, if I'm not mistaken, though I could be wrong, that maybe perhaps those triple-butted frames were from the 70s.

Those were the Reynolds-tubed models. I read that on the Internet.

It's got three butts - so it's 50% better than other bikes. And it's lighter! Even though it's a tourer built for load rather than weight
