I just picked up my grail bike! Peugeot PX 10, WoW!
It'll need some tender loving care, a little dirty, but it's the Peugeot that won lots of tours in Europe for years. The Peugeot PX 10 is all French, the pedals will replace with Atom cage that I have. I'll post more pictures when the bike is nearly finish, the pictures posted is the exact condition when bought. I think it's 50 years old, the serial number is 1861223, maybe some of the Peugeot experts would know. It'll match my wife's Peugeot Mixtie in decals and color.
Thanks for looking, Mike

Those are great bikes, as long as one doesn't go and tighten the front derailer clamp bolts! :-)
Sew-ups? Looks quite original! I can't tell what's going on with the axle QR nut wings, plastic too.
Looks like a ~1971 model with 72-degre angles, hope this one is fitting you "large", since the seat tube angle steals a cm or two from the tt length.
Keep it original, or it would also make a decent 'cross bike, lol.
I don't know, out in Chicago this might be a really, really good find. More common here in CA i'm sure, but still good bikes.
It's been a while since I went thru a used PX10 purchase, I'll have to get another one going myself soon.

I need to get rid of bikes, not buy them; still I'd make space for a PX 10. Nice score.

...you will enjoy the ride, I think. Congratulations.
I don't know if you're a "keep it all original" guy or not, but I can show you these photos where you can see some of the modifications I made to mine.
I am a larger, heavier rider, so the original bars and stems on these often make me anxious. Otherwise, except for re-threading the cranks to accommodate
standard threading on the pedals, full brake lever hoods, and corked bar tape, I recall no other modifications except to the front derailleur and seat post
replacement with something out of alloy.I can't do the tubular tire thing any more, so rims too.
Only suggestions for possibilities. It's your grail bike, after all.

Great find. I just finished fixing up my late '60s PX10 that I picked up from a landscaper a few months ago. I love that bike. I only with it were smaller. 63 cm is too tall for me so my tall brother is enjoying it.

I was thinking early '70's because of the 7 digit ID number, yet the lugs are the style used in the late '60's, so maybe a 1970?
Yeah, the little black wing-nuts seem to be missing from the quick release- unobtainable.
The crank bolt covers can, with luck, be found on e-bay.
The handlebar has interesting sloping angles, pre-'72- mine never looked like that on my '72.
That's the original black bar tape- don't throw it out- it is very nice.
Looks like original Normandy hubs with those red decals still showing.
The saddle should be a black Brooks Professional.
Brakes are original Mafac Racer, it appears. Original Stronglight crank.
Right!!! do not tighten that front derailleur clamp bolts- the plastic will crack and misery results.
All the decals are available. Those brake levers and white boots can occasionally be found on e-bay.
It is a small frame, hope it fits you.
It looks like somebody kept it indoors, but didn't know much about caring for it otherwise.
Good find.

That bike will clean up great. The paint is nice. All the alloy stuff will polish up beautifully. Score!
The Mafac half hoods are tough to find. Treat them gently, try to revive them.

Still learning
Love the fancy lugs. Mine are the plain style. Congratulations!

They do come up but any colour other than black tend to be very expensive.
The ones on this bike look useable to me but I wonder if they are lifting at the backs because the locating tangs have broken off, or if they're just not clipped in properly. If the former, I think the only way of using them is to glue them to the tops of the levers. This is one of an old pair on a machine that I use regularly:

Nice survivor PX10!
Only thing really outwardly out of place is the saddle, A Brooks Pro or an Ideale TB 80/90 should complete the period picture....

I love the ride of my PX10. Got the same lugs. Took it out again this past weekend.

Nice score! It looks quite similar in size and age to the PX-10 I picked up several months ago. Yours is a bit more original, as mine came with Suntour derailleurs and a set of clincher wheels laced to Sunshine low flange hubs. Once I got it dialed in a bit I really love the ride quality. Enjoy it!

Nice score, My Holy Grail is also the PX-10, I have my '72 hanging on my bedroom wall, (after I am done riding I clean it, lemon pledge it and it is wall art until the next ride...lol).
They do ride great and I am always on the look out for another.
I know this is heresy here at C&V but someday I would like to find a PX-10 frame and put my 27 x 1 1/4 Shimano coaster brake wheel set on it for summer commuting.
That should make it a sub 20# bike and a fun fast ride...

I really liked my PKN-10, so I expect you will be delighted with your new acquisition. I still think the ca. 1970 Peugeot decal scheme is one of the best-looking ever devised. Tres cool!
It is also great that your wife has a white UO-18 from that vintage. When I worked at a Peugeot / Nishiki dealership in the early 1970s, we could not order white UO-18s as fast as we could have sold them.

I latest progress update! The ride, it's my goto bike, smooth, handles, comfortable, but not as snappy as the Colnago C50 or the Cinelli SC and Gios. Here's a few pictures:
The owner contacted me to give me the Lyotard pedals and a few other items.
Question; is this normal for the lower rear derailleur pulley wheel not having teeth? Still shifts crisp and smooth.

I've had some Hurets that didn't have teeth on the bottom of the pulley.
Is that the model with the stem of death? The mixte looks really nice

No, not to my knowledge, there's an extended wedge inside to reinforce the stem.

Nice bike. Looks like the cousin to a PX10 I picked up last year. Mine has the less fancy lugs. I think it is a 72-74 for some reason.
Mine was a bit rough when I got it, but looked well cared for. I'm keeping it like that for now and ride it occasionally. Mine has weird upgrades, suntour 6 speed freewheel, turkey lever brakes and universal 68 sidepulls, suntour FD and simplex barcons.
Is that lower derailleur gear metal? If plastic I'd say it is just broken. I've needed to replace both gears on both of my simplex derailleurs. Suntour ones fit fine.
I think you do have the death stem, it looks just like mine. Look it up online and take it out to inspect the weak spot for cracks. They wedge helps cause the cracks. Mine looked good the last time I checked it, and I am careful to not pull on it much, even when climbing.
The mixte you posted is stunning. Really, really nice.

This is a photo of my PX-10 Simplex derailleur, it's not so old that it's lost its teeth.
It does look like yours was designed that way.

I looks like he gave you the original freewheel, as well. We sold very few PX-10s with that original 52-45/14-15-17-19-21 gearing -- almost everyone wanted a 14-26 or a 14-28, and some wanted 42, 40, or even 38T inner chainrings.

Grail satisfies on so many levels...
And perfectly matched w/ the mixte. Double grailly?
Sometimes they take a while to verify as 'true grail' while being ridden.
Falling a little short is no sin.
Not even too disappointing really. (see 'Underwater but ...' thread)
N+1 is not a bad thing.
edit: I like your upgrades/changes, especially if it can be the goto bike. And, I understand the no tubular thing, but with clinchers it takes away from the grail-ish feel. But that's just for me.
