Perhaps someday I'll find an ape dropped TT ride or build a funky early tri-racer.
I think I'd wear a helmet on that ride, my friend.

These are 30 year old tubulars on 40 year old wheels. The sidewalls are crispy and there are loose threads hanging from the base tapes, but I love the way they ride.

Just for clarity:
The tubulars that Yellow Jersey sells- Servizio Corse- are manufactured in Thailand.
Tufos are manufactured in Czech Republic.

Two different operations/tires.

Comfy 28 mm Tufos. I've never had a flat. Butyl tubes are heavier, but you don't have to pump them every day.

Thanks. I stand corrected.
I bought Tufos from Yellow Jersey a few years back.
Presumed (bad idea)they were still carrying them

I'm sure that they still carry them, but nobody sells Tufos for 3/$50. If they did, I'd buy 6.

bit of an eye chart. Slightly higher resolution would solve the reading issue. Thanks. Kinda interesting to look at the views of the era.

I think we have a gaggle of tubulars at the co-op that somebody donated. For that matter I think we have a stack of tubular rims stored somewhere. People are always doing that - emptying their garages of unwanted bike stuff. Good thing, since that's how we stay in business.

I should take photos and put them up for sale somewhere... nobody local is going to buy them.

Generally buying used tubulars is a losing proposition IMO.

That's unfortunate, but probably reasonable.

so true, old tubes turn away many otherwise would be buyers. unless the bike is a really good deal, I would also see tubes as a negative, I have 3 sets and at most have only one as a working set on a bike

I don't think it's reasonable. I've bought a lot of used tubulars. Like anything else used, it's all about condition. If the carcass is not significantly blemished, the tread is elastic, not cracked greatly and attached to the carcass, the base tape is in place, and it holds air as it should, then it is rideable.

I have bought them also , looked good, held air , till you get them mounted, put high pressure in them and then in the morning.....not worth the money, time , prep, effort when you can buy really nice new under $40-50 from the UK. it's to much effort to mess with a crap -shoot used tubular. Think about it, do you pull good tubulars off rims , for just because?
