If you havent had it on the road and you dont mind a few wrench sessions then why not.

The full 531c is a unique feel. Smooth as silk, it is quick, silent and responsive. I like to ride my 760 after a hard and fast ride on my cannondale criterium series. It's like coming home, kicking off the work boots for a pair of slippers.

Update on fork. Picked it up. the frame was in an accident so the TT and DT were damaged. The owner couldn't see that the fork was bent too until I pointed it out to him. So the bend is not readily noticed to the untrained eye. I believe I can bend it back into alignment. I am not concerned about the cold working of the material and I think the risk is worth the effort due to the difficulty of find a fork for this bike. Worse case scenario would be to order tubes and rebuild the fork. The crown is the real differentiator! It has Campagnolo DO's

How much would it cost to get a fork made by Waterford to match the bike?

You should be able to find blades that are similar, I would think. Here in our bike-friendly town of 3500 we have a certified Waterford frames builder. You should find someone near you to help with the brazing/fitting.

I have a friend that builds his own frames that is not far away. He won't build for others but he might help me with the fork. He recently started building his own forks instead of purchasing them. He is a picture trying to capture the extend of the "bent" condition. Depth of field is not big enough but I think you can see the condition. There were a few cracks in the paint so I "chipped" them out to se if there was any cracks in the steel. None.

the crack in the paint was between the longer edges in this next picture. Obviously nothing is there.

Yep, that's it, all right. Fast and mellow at the same time is quite a trick.

Had one. Got it nicely painted. Rode it. It was just a bit too small, so I sold it. Thread here.

Upthywazzoo,
That is gorgeous x1000. Do you by chance have the info on that color green? I have a beaujolais 760 and have been toying with the idea of going green.
Thanks!

Thank you! and @OldsCOOL as well. It's Dupont Imron "Mylanta Green". Bit difficult to find on the internet as a saleable product though I'm sure if you contacted Dupont or worked with an auto paint company you could get some. Might even exist as a powder coat?

Got my 770 for $25 a few years back, half the paint stripped, rust on the seat stays and generally in poor condition.
Decided since it was an open book to do a 'custom' paint scheme. I spent a few days in the paint booth and came up with
this combo. Decals are from VeloCals and are outstanding, I think I'm going to order the rest of the set and give up the minimalist look.
I also need to find a headbadge and post more recent pic's this one is at least 5 years old.

Nice work on the frame. It's nice to bring a classic back from the brink.

Tonight I rode my 16mi personal TT route and decided to leave the Cdale Crit home. Instead, I put the ride accessories on the 760. Ended up with a fast ride. Anytime I can ride that course under an hour is a good trip. Done deal. That was the first time I've taken it on a timed course (with hills) and I must say, it's an impressive bike.

Update on post #109 fork.

Talked to a friend who builds his own bikes. He is on #4 and used all Richard Sachs lugs and tubing. He built a jig to validate and copy fork off-sets. He allowed me to borrow it and now I have a 760 fork that is off set correctly and looks to be completely aligned.

The jig is a 1x1 squared tube with an QR axle set up at one end for mounting the DO's. Two side plates are mounted for the steerer to nestle in and then in side are two set screwed for the steerer to sit on. The way it works is simple. The distance from the center of the "axle to the top of the tubing is .5 inches. The rest of the off set is adjusted by the set screws. Two are used to insure the steerer is parallel to the tubing.

I completely missed your post due to my being out of town over that weekend (and the Colnago purchase/pickup). Ingenious jig! Your post in the Claude Butler/Trek thread made me think of your fork project. I hope you are enjoying this bike. Too cool, man.

So, I have this idea. Since buying this bike exactly a year ago, I've toyed with the idea of running a tubular wheelset on this bike. Now that I have such a set on the Colnago, this will be the next move to try that idea. If I like it, then it will be a future upgrade.

Do it! I have not built the 760 yet. I actually borrowed the headset to use on a Masi Gran Corsa to see if I like the ride of the frame set (which is for sale). I heard good things about it that I need to find out for myself. Wrong thread for this, but it has a 7speed 105 group on it now with tubulars, GL330's and Mavic 501 hubs, 32 hole, IRD 7speed freewheel.

Yeah, I can see that happening, especially a Masi. That would definately call out to me for a test ride.

Since I am going with Superbe Pro for the Trek, I should start looking for a headset and leave the Masi alone.
