how many bearings should be in the front hub of a peugot ?
Hi all,
Doing a service on my Peugot Talisman ph8 from 1976.
Opened up the hub on the front wheel to replace bearings and grease .There were 9 Bearings in one side and 10 on the other . I'm just wondering which side has the correct amount before I proceed ?Is there an extra in one side or is there one missing in the other ?
The back wheel had 9 bearings in each side of the hub . These Bearings were slightly larger than the ones in the front wheel hub .

Ten sounds like a good round number. And round is good for bearings, generally speaking.

Most hubs from that era would use 10 loose 3/16" balls per side in the front and 9 loose 1/4" balls per side in the rear.

I simply add grease, then fill the race with ball bearings. Then remove one ball bearing and complete the job.
