Trek 950
I finished up building up my old Trek 400 for a friend w 9 spd Ultegra triple group and high zoot Fulcrum wheels. He was so happy w the build, he gave me his old mtb in addition to the price of the 400. It's an 89 950 (blue w white graphics) and full Deore LX group. It's in decent shape but has a few nicks and needs a full regrease.

Happy treeknocking!

My son is growing out of his Trek 820, so I picked up a '90 Trek 970 for him. He wants to learn how to "fix up bikes" this winter and this will make a good project. I don't know how excited he is about having an older mountain bike, but I wish it was my size because the lugs on it are beautiful. I especially like the "Trek" stamped on the seat lugs.

Kobe, good job on the father/son bicycle project, time spent with our children is time well spent. Some build pics of the project would be nice, if you get the chance.
Sorry for the hijack of the thread, back to our regularly scheduled programing. Bill |
I've owned a couple of 950s, great bikes! A 970? Even better!

I must confess, I am a hoarder.
Two blue and white 950's and an orange/black fade 970. When they are available for $75 or less, it is a no brainer. |
I bought a blue & white 950 for the parts that were on it. It pained me to toss the frame, but it had terminal internal rot. :(

Thanks bro! Technically, I've been lurking for a while, I'm just posting less infrequently. :)

Just picked up a 93 950 and had a smile on my face every time I rode it this past summer.

This is what I built for my friend. He lets me use the lifts in his shop for automotive projects for free, so I gave him the frame and a few parts as a thank you. He paid for the group and wheels. Very nice riding bike

Nice treks! I picked up a frame plus xt shifters. Need wheelset, brakes, headset, stem and bars, maybe BB... Not sure whether to get another bike for the spare parts to transfer over, buy new parts, or what.
The singletrack treks are nice for mountainbikes, i can't get into any of the suspension ones. |
Quick update, I put new tires on it and have been using it for short jaunts around town and a little bit of singletrack. It's a really fun bike to ride, just needs new brake pads badly!
