FYI, REI has 20% off on the Feedback Sports stands currently.

Not sure of the brand and the four that I use have come from different places. They are usually found in "storage solutions" areas in Walmart, Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Lowes etc. I did buy some at Princess auto and even Harbour Freight may have them. They do work very well and are great for cleaning and lubing. They swing very little and I have used them to rebuild many bikes. I don't even own a proper bike stand.

Cheaper at Amazon, and free shipping/no tax with Prime:
Amazon.com : Feedback Sports Pro Elite Repair Stand (Red) : Bike Workstands : Sports & Outdoors
IMO, it is the best stand of it's type out there. The Sprint version is also very nice, if you prefer/need that style. The Pro Elite is worth the extra cash over the other versions.

Actually there is little swinging involved. I have done at least 20 bikes on them most including bottom bracket work. I even had to use a hammer and chisel to pound the fixed side bearing on an old Raleigh. Most torqueing on bikes is light duty and with the bike raised to working level there is a not a lot of room to swing. Try one as a storage option, and see how it works for most tasks.

Waxing the center post the legs ride on sure helps with set-up.

No love for the Pedro's stand?

Got mine off CL a few years back. The clamps double as bottle openers.

I use an inner tube tied to a ceiling/floor joist in my basement. Basically just hang the bike from its seat. The bike twirls around a bit. Paint bikes the same way. Just hang the bike from the inner tube.

It was difficult to get the legs out until I waxed the center post with Butcher's Bowling Alley Wax (I think that's what it is, I use it on my tablesaw, jointer, planer, etc and wood just floats across.)
From my 3 minutes of messing with it, one difference between this and my old one, is that on the old one, one can easily rotate the bike, this one requires that the bike/clamp/post relationship has to be correct to be able to do that. Not, probably, a big deal, but different from my old one.

MTA: I also have the Feedback Sports Pro Elite. I love it, but I haven't used any other stands to compare it to.

I've done this too and when the inner tube rotted out I replaced it with loop of 1" rope - a loop just high enough to clear my head as I walk around. I also now have a POS trunk bike rack that I plucked from the recycle bin. I took it apart and rethought it then cut one of the legs down then put it back together. You can see that it sets right into the vice and makes a nice work stand for many jobs. Today was removal/cleaning of the chain and cleaning the drive train. Just right. I still use the rope loop and can tie the rear wheel to the bench to stop the twirls.
