Anyone know of billionaire Sheikh Saud's (1966-2014) vintage bike collection?

It sounds intriguing:

https://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/db052196-6...#ixzz3JN7oqGy4

alongside were barns holding hundreds of vintage bicycles, dozens of luxury cars, even fossils and Roman rarities such as the Constable-Maxwell “cage cup”, a carved bowl from the third century AD.
https://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/17/ar...ttom-well&_r=0

Sheikh Saud bin Mohammed al-Thani, a Qatari royal relative who was one of the world’s most prolific and idiosyncratic buyers of art, antiquities, jewelry, vintage cars and dinosaur fossils until corruption charges left him in debt, died on Nov. 9 at his home in London.
I haven't been able to find anything about this holy grail collection.

They say you can't take it with you. What I really want to know is...

...what's in those barns??!!! And am I in the will?

What must be bad is, the weather might be too hot all year to enjoy cycling in that region for any extended amount of time. So there might not be enough of a cycling season to really enjoy riding such a collection.
If I were the billionaire sheik, I'd build a large air conditioned indoor velodrome and cycling park facility. It can be done. Indoor ski hills had been built in desert and tropical countries for many years now, so large area air conditioning is no problem.

Dear Holden West,

My name is Barrister Geoffrey Winchester and I represent the Royal family of Qatar. Actually, I got your contact information through a special interest classic and vintage bicycle forum as an especially knowledgeable and trusted advisor.

Prior to my explaining further, I must first make an apology for this unsolicited mail to you. I am conscious that this is certainly not a predictable way of approach to foster a relationship of trust but because of the circumstances and urgency surrounding this claim. We wish to entrust Sheik Saud's entire car and bicycle collection to you to do as you wish.
Furthermore, before the catastrophe; He deposited One Trunk Box/Diplomatic Personal Treasure, containing the sum of $10.8M (TEN MILLION, EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND US DOLLARS) with a Safe Security Company here in Qatar, because of security and personal reasons he did not disclose the exact content of deposited diplomatic box to the SAFE house. As the attomey to late Sheik Saud, the security company has mandated me to present a member of his family (heir/inheritor) to make Claims or the vault will be confiscated and taken to the Bureau of Diplomatic Security as unclaimed.
After exhaustive efforts of search for a direct family member to my late client which came to no avail, I was given an ultimatum to look for some relative to come for the claim or have the Vault liquidated and made unserviceable in accordance with existing laws.
Against this backdrop, my suggestion to you is that I will like you to stand as the next of kin. I know you may not be anyway related to my late client but having a common surname with him and the modality I have in place I can guarantee that if you follow my instructions (The rule of laws) and capitalizing of some judicial loop holes the vault will be release to us.
Mind you that this transaction is 100% risk free; there is no atom of risk connected to this business as I have worked out all modalities to complete the operation effectively. Once the consignment (vault) is released to you, we shall divide the content in the ratio of 50% for you, 50% for me as our benefit. (S 5.4 Million each)
Upon forwarding me a good faith deposit of $50,000 US, kindly indicate your responses to this mail either via my office email address or you can also call. Please be kind to get back to me if you are not willing to collaborate with me so that I can further my search for another partner.

Kind Regards,
Geoffrey Winchester

He has been in the art scene news for a long time. Guy seemed to have a hoarding problem. Ended up owing a huge amounts of money to a few auction houses.

He was cornering the market on high performance bikes, because he wanted everyone to drive cars that consume fossil fuels.

I've not been there, but have been in Morocco and Syria on the edge of the desert where heat is surely not in short supply. The riding at dawn or dusk there is perfectly doable. No need to worry about fendering up too The Tour of Qatar proves that even GT-style racing is feasible.

Morocco, especially, seems cycling mad, having almost as much bikes in sight as any dutch city. On the country side almost all the kids are on bikes and I've seen numerous riding groups go by whilst driving there around. Plus a lot of western bike tourists taking advantage of the amazing mountain terrain. Must be a colonial hangover of some sorts. Lots of Pugs, Motobecanes, Gitanese etc. in evidence. In Eritrea (formerly Italian) cycling is the number one sport.

I would probably use fenders to keep all the dust and sand from getting into the the headset and other components.

Yes I do. Sheikh Saud consulted with me and invited me twice to Doha, Qatar, to view his collection and give him advice. May he rest in peace.

Intriguing. Please elaborate - there are folks here who would love to find out more about what it contains. Thanks.
