My personal picks would be the Vittorio Rubino III and the Forte Pro+ Wire bead. The Vittorio Rubinos list for more, but they are widely being cleared out for under $25. The Forte Pro+ regularly sells for $20-25 from Performance Cycle.

The Rubino III is a supple performance tire with a high thread count and really low rolling resistance, and pretty good puncture protection, whereas the Forte Pro+ has pretty low rolling resistance and it's quite rugged due to a Kevlar belt.

Pick the Rubino if you want performance foremost with good flat resistance, Pick the Forte Pro+ if you want flat resistance foremost with good performance.

    Panaracer Pasela PT.

(Although you'd have to shop carefully to get them that expensive. Usually $18-22 each will get them delivered to your doorstep.)

Thanks bud! Apparently Performance is already having their black friday sales. I just bought 2 forte pro+ tyres and 8 forte puncture ressitant tubes for a grand total of $39. Insane!

Schwalbe - Marathon Plus with Smart Guard

    On sale for $36 per.

Schwalbe Marathon Plus Road Tyre - Smart Guard | Chain Reaction Cycles

Late to this party, but I'll recommend these anyway. I tossed a set on my Fargo for road work this winter. Very pleasantly surprised. I use them in the 700x35 size, but they are available in 700x25.

I've got a pair of those Vittorias, rec'd in a trade, 700x25's, nearly new, I'd sell you for $40 shipped.
I just don't need them, and I'm pretty much a Continental or Vredestein rider. Just a thing.

    Otherwise, Continental GrandSport Race 700x25's.
For sale almost everywhere about $60/set.

Don't read all the reviews. Mine are not heavy and roll fine.

Sort of a stepchild to the GP4000S II 700x25.
(a pair of which I just bought, NIB, for $60 on CL)

I recommend at least perusing local CL for bike parts.
Some people buy nice 25's to try out and just can't get past the size issues (fit or appearance), and re-sell them.

I'll jump on the Vittoria Rubino Pro bandwagon. I'm running them on two bikes with another pair on deck.

+1 I think that you can get these in either gum wall or black wall. Gum walls are cool for the vintage look, if that's what you're into.

Thanks right back at ya! I just picked up two more of those tires at the ridiculous Black Friday price of $12.59 each - I was in the store yesterday and the price was $22.50 and I decided not to buy them then.

I hit the same sale, picked up some bibs, some shorts for a lady, a couple of tires. Prices go back up tomorrow.
If I need a helmet, I'd be all over the Giro Air Attacks (Shield or otherwise)
If I needed shoes, I'd be all over those Giro's for $200 off.

Just curious, why -25 for commuting? ...seems a bit extreme (on the small side). -28 is too large for your bike?... in which case, maybe your bike is a bit extreme for commuting ...just sayin'

...All in fun, I can perfectly understand commuting on a dedicated road bike if that's what you want to do.
