Found ! 1983 dave moulton

A righteous find - DM was definitely a builder's builder. In some ways, it's a pity that he hung up his torch - but he chose a more contemplative path - good for him. Do you have info on who did the respray? - can't imagine that it remained that pristine from '83??? - I don't see a blemish. Absolutely beautiful color, styling, chrome. Unbelievably sharp and beautiful seat cluster. We await a ride report once you complete the build! Congrats!

I have a Fuso and it is both a great ride and a really nice climber. I also bought it as a frameset, but built mine with a Croce d'Aune group that I pieced together. I love the details on your frameset, especially the Masi-esque seat stay caps--an authentic touch, considering Dave's experiance with Masi. His customs are definitely a cut above the still superb Fuso production frames, though the customizations need to fit one's own body build in order to make it a wise purchase.

The collection of parts is shaping up nicely!
I think the TA crank will suit very well; fits in with the aesthetics of the NR equipment, and I gather you may have some more leeway with gearing as well?
When it all comes together...this is going to be good.

thats good to know, I like the looks of them I have read where they have a "silky" smooth feel on the road, tons of tubular stuff out there but not a lot of good clinchers with a nice gumwall, i also heard they measure out narrow so i hope the 25mm is close to being a 23mm, thanks for your reply.
I rode the 120 tpi version and they had the tan sidewalls.
They were sharp.

Just reading this thread for the first time, and enjoying the build of that beautiful frame. So cool that it's Reynolds 531 - I love the way it rides. All the parts are coming together, that's going to be a sweet bike. Congrats.

If you want to save a lot of money buy a complete bike campy equipped, strip everything and then re sell the frame. It will speed up your build and save you a lot of $$$. And that seat cluster with the fluted stays.... Classy!!!

Thanks for the advice 72, but I knew the build was going to be a lengthy one plus I think hunting each individual piece is part of the fun and believe me you can find some awesome deals on ebay, CL, etc.

03-14-15: Brakes
Final pieces on the way, I did have to consult with my LBS to button up the botton bracket and TA crankset , I was hoping ro use the ta spindle but it was too long , I believe a updated sealed unit will be smoother and more durable anyway . Finally the last pieces of the puzzle , the brake set up, final pictures coming soon.

Fantastic Fuso ! Did you buy it complete or build it up ? I really like hearing the readers tell the history on their bikes , so please let me know about yours, I think one of the neatest parts on the Fuso's and always grabs my attention is the "moulting" hot steel being poured out of a fiery pot, I think it's one of the "coolest" (no pun intended) headbadges ever designed !
