ISO white Turbo saddle, or equivalent

My '87 Ironman came with a saddle that is pretty dinged (gouged!) up.

Does anybody re-cover these, with a good close-celled foam and high-quality vinyl (or leather) over the top?

Or, does anybody have this saddle (or something period-correct and similar), in white, for sale?

Thanks for the links.
Before I do that, I might try this:

Try the recover. The saddle is ruined, so you have nothing to lose. Here's an old thread about it:

That is a great thread, thanks for finding it.

I wonder what thickness leather would be best?
Too thick and it doesn't wrap well, too thin and it might feel cheap or wear quickly.

Quite thin is what you want. I've used upholstery leather and it's ever so slightly thicker than what I've pulled off Concor & Flite saddles. It was workable, but I could barely do the close gathering required at the nose.

The difficult part in your case is going to be fixing the foam. I don't know what to tell you about that; maybe someone else can chime in. Iirc, there was quite a bit of brainstorming on that other thread, but I don't remember any hard and fast rules about what works for foam repair/replacement.

[edit]Based on what I've seen under the leather on various saddles, it appears the original foam is molded in place. Filling in the proper contour, and getting the proper amount of give/memory is a challenge. If someone knows the trick, I hope they post it!

This is exactly what I have in mind to recover my broken panasonic saddle.

However, I might need to sacrifice the wording printed on the current leather.

Could there be any way to re-do that?

I wonder how a water-slide decal would hold up adhering to the leather. I guess you'd have to have a custom one made up but then you'd get a whole sheet and you could redo them as they wore off. I doubt a vinyl decal would work. I think the original logo was screenprinted as it seems to wear off evenly as opposed to flaking like a decal but I may be wrong.

Thanks for the comments, humor, and link to Jason.
Also thanks to John for offering a white Turbo.

Looks like I'm going to try a re-cover. If it goes smoothly I may try to find a font similar to original, and then get a print/decal shop to make me a cutout, then mask and spray the logo on. SEM makes a spray paint specifically for leather or vinyl, and it is a great product. I used it on a boat hatch sunpad (below), many use it when restoring auto interiors. Here is the link:

Nice Donzi.

I'll pile on with the others who suggested recovering the saddle yourself. I've done a few, and it just takes patience. Check with an Automotive upholstery shop for the material. Some might give you the material for free.

It got to 60mph in about 4 seconds, and was squirrely as sh*t at high speed. With Donzi's deep-vee deadrise hulls, high hp power & solidly constructed, they really are one of the best boats ever built. Don Aronow, baby!

This was my first Donzi, used in an ad for a Lake George, NY, hotel.

If it doesn't work I bought one of the repros to replace the eyesore fred saddle on my Lovell, I've only put a couple hundred miles on it but it's fine. $55 on chainreaction right now.
