Now that I have your attention, it's been mentioned here that "billboarding" on modern bikes is one reason people like the subtle class of C&V.
I've noticed that some tire companies like to tell you all about it, on the tire. Show us some examples?

I'll start:

Printed:Vittoria Corsa Evo-CX 21-28" Press 8-14 BAR Corespun K Kevlar Casing 290TPI Kevlar Si0 3D Compound
Raised lettering: Made in Thailand

Good grief, Charlie Brown...

I think that's one reason I like those yellow jersey tubulars as they don't have much print on them and look nice on older bikes. I stead of using newer tubulars which need to have everything about them and stick right out.

I agree.

I agree, too. I always liked the little Continental orange bar. If you were close enough to read it, it had better be your bike.

Just this (picture stolen from Scrod's website):

I agree on the minimal labelling. All of the other info is tastefully molded into the sidewall.

OK, I'll admit. Not a fan of lengthy or overly done company logo tires on classic bikes. Silly me but have marked out some black walls using a Sharpie.

I must admit that I don't really care what is written on the tire as long as I can find the size and pressure ratings.

That's what I thought, too! Just now figured it out. (1942 was a big clue.)

I think the older Schwinn tubes said "Tractor" on them.

Yeah, billboarding is a good word for it, and it has gotten out of hand. Your Vittoria has a lot of words, but they are not garishly arranged. There are much worse these days.

I have one tire that has raised lettering that reads "700 x 28c 28.622." Silkscreeened onto the same tire is "27 x 1 1/8 28.630"

^^chuckling, I think that sums it up rather well.

Here's how it happens. I have this SS with too large of frame but I like the components, wheel's, etc.. Basically was a loaner bike for guest but it sits more than used so I plan to strip it this Winter and use the trimmings for a long hauler bike build. I don't know anything about the freaky labeled Forte 700-35c rubber but they're like new and offer a nice ride. What the heck is in the middle of the label anyways? Wherever they end up, they will be blacked out.
