Return to stock or upgrade?
Rear D: Shimano 600 Tri-Color 6401 or '85 Campy Victory. My '85 Gitane Pro came with the Shimano 600 and he included the original Camp Victory. I don't index shifti which the 600 affords me so i was thinking of returning the bike to stock with the Victory. I hear the Victory ain't as good as the Shim 600. Any thoughts on the '85 Victory RD or is there something else i could be looking at? Similar era, C-record? I don't kno campy well so any input is appreciated.

returning to stock might cost you a couple of cables, but I think I would do that first

This is just my opinion but I own several classic cars and a few vintage bikes (nothing of significant value in the bike department), but I'm a big, make that HUGE fan of keeping vintage stuff as the factory intended it be, changing a bikes components from one to another bastardizes the bike. If the bike came with Victory stuff than leave it that way, save the 600 stuff for when you find a bare frame build or a bike with worn out 600 components.

Go original if you you don't mind the slight drop in functionality and like the idea of the bike being original.
Since you already have both the 600 and Victory in hand, it doesn't hurt to try them both and then go back to the 600 if you don't like the difference. Cables and housing are cheap, if you're doing the work yourself.
