In my dreams!

From the age of 18 to 30 I worked in the music business. I toured with bands and did radio, retail and press promo work. I worked primarily with rock bands like the Replacements, Hüsker Dü, the Suburbs and various other local acts. Towards the end of my "career" I did independent promotion for touring acts in the Midwest and a bit on the East coast.

After I was married 25 years ago, I settled down a bit. I have enjoyed the privilege of working with middle school students, primarily teaching advanced math. I started an accelerated math program at our school, working with everyone from newcomers to gifted and talented learners.

It's been an incredible ride.

Finance, accounting, management and ownership roles for 20 years in the advertising/public relations business, 8 years as part of the management team of a companion animal veterinary hospital chain and nearly 2 years now as a co-founder of a small-batch, craft distillery. We're marketing gin and vodka at the moment and putting barley single malt whisky in oak barrels to age for at least 3 years ( Canadian law stipulates the minimum). If the whisky ages well we will have our first release in Nov. 2017. Best part of the job is product development and taste testing.

I'm a biochemist, and for the last 10 years I've been at a large pharmaceutical company working in early phase 'drug discovery'. My job involves designing experiments to understand the mechanism of action of potential drugs and identify the proteins within the cell that the small molecules are interacting with, a process also known as target identification.

I graduated from college at 19, turned 20 in Afghanistan, then 21 in Nepal. Came back for more college, both middle USA and Hawaii. Back to Asia, detoured as junior White House staff, then back to SE Asia for 20 years. Twice decorated by the king of Thailand. A few years commuting from Bangkok to Honolulu to complete doctorate, then into Burma for another 10 years in charge of HIV/AIDS programs. Twice thrown out of country (but allowed back). For past 3 years, I’ve directed one of the global projects of the Emerging Pandemic Threats program running research on viral spillover risks in the top dozen countries considered viral hot zones. That project is wrapping up, so I’ll be looking for something new soon. Open to suggestions. As usual, I’ll be looking for something oddly different.

I work in the model shop of an industrial design firm. Also build custom ordered/designed/fabricated furniture and restaurant features. I have a few moped products of my design on the market and rock all kinds of things two wheeled. I love the build!

I have a chemistry degree but been off the bench for over 40 years. I was a Senior Manager in a Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology Supplier Auditing department for a big Pharma firm. Then about four years ago, went independent running my own consulting company. I'm completing my most recent contract in two weeks. That will be the end of the high travel jobs. I might try to find a local contract or just retire and play with bikes.

Got my doctorate at age 14. I was an astronaut, went on a secret mission to intercept the Hale-Bopp comet and assassinate Marshall Applewhite so he would not come back and crash the comet into Earth. Unsuccessful. Emplaced classified weapons on the moon as defense measures. Currently I'm the CEO of Exxon Mobil.

Me too! I have a nice '67 Beetle and a not-so-nice '74 Thing in pieces, a Rickenbacker 330 and a handful of tube amplifiers that I built, all languishing because I've been on my bike kick for the last few years. I used to lift weights regularly too. Just can't summon the interest for more than one hobby at a time.

I'm a business engineer. After a career in ERP consulting I switched to mental health care. For the past six years or so I've been working on the development and distribution of software for online treatment.

I'm a Sales Manager for a large industrial components company. We produce mechanical products, including clutches, brakes, gearing, couplings and other power transmission components.

I work with more than a hundred equipment manufacturers and equipment distribution partners. Garmin International in Olathe Kansas has been developing a system with us as a partner.

That is perhaps the most beautiful equipment I have ever seen. Looks like a pair of copper flutes or such. I'd love to taste some of the product if it is as good as the vessel it comes from!

We have a minty fresh Singer 500a "Rocketeer" which is a brilliant machine and a nearly as nice Singer 403 which is mechanically the same... these were really the peak of Singer's design in North America although there are a few German Singer models that are just a little better because of their extra features.

The Singer 201 is the Rolls Royce of sewing machines, it is on my list of machines to eventually acquire because they are just that good.

Many people don't realize that sewing machines are a very complex and precisely built machine, Berninas are probably the best machines ever made from a technical standpoint.

I really enjoy sewing and working on machines... that 730 Record is the holy grail for a lot of people who are pretty serious about their sewing work or for collectors. Our smaller and simpler 717 shares a lot of parts with the 730 which is just smart engineering to minimize tooling costs.

My all time favorite of the dozen or so are the Rocketeer and my old faithful a 1950's Singer slant needle 404. The 201 was a thrift store find for $25. Need to locate a motor for it. My mom has Husqvarna and Viking machines for some reason. I have a newer electronic Singer that is headed for the parts bin, too many plastic parts and when the boards go bad you are SOL. It was given to me and isn't worth the time or effort to try and repair. I think Singer pretty well lost their quality after the Rocketeers.
