The Year in Review: Bikes you Acquired in 2014

Post up the bikes you acquired in 2014. These are my keepers, at least temporarily, (except the little Merckx). I picked up plenty more that I sold to feed the N +1 addiction. My New Year's resolution is to subtract rather than add to my bike stable. The bikes are a Pinarello Record, Tommaso, Schwinn Premis, Raleigh Grand Sports, Merckx MX Leader, Merckx TSX/Century.

I picked up the same bike in 2014. It was a very nice, well made bike unfortunately it was too small for me so I sold it to help pay for my keepers.

I had bought mine as a winter project (and mine is my size). But I finished before it got too cold... but not with enough time to put any real miles on it. I ride 2000 miles a year on modern bikes and finished that in October... and it has been pretty crappy out since then. But I will be recording cycling miles in 2015 via an app on my phone. So... it will be much easier to include my vintage bikes in my annual miles.... since I won't need to add a computer to each bike.

I also have a little Univega waiting for spring. Then I will list it (on CL) with hopes of it paying for the Nashbar as well as itself.

I bought a few bikes this year, but I am sure I will slow down next year. I also bought a Fuji mixte frame I am building up for my wife, but I can't find the pictures of it at the moment.

Picked up a 1980 Cinelli SC this past fall as a gift from a friend. Then this past spring I got my first Waterford built Paramount and has a American components builder theme to it. Then my 93 C'dale dropbar hybrid commuter.

I'll try not to be a wet blanket, but I achieved my goal of acquiring no new bikes in 2014. However, I did finally finish wearing out a set of 700x30C tires, and my goal for next year will be to put a lot of miles on the C&V bikes I have.

If you're going to post/boast the big sale prices, maybe you could post how much time was invested(labor to rehab and time spent to sell)

sorry. are they "big"? it's seattle and they're all fully refurbished, usually with a $90 saddle, kool-stops, and new paselas. i spend about a month on each, polishing and overhauling the smallest bits. there's little more satisfying to me than bringing these (sometimes left for dead) vintage road bikes to a condition even better than they were new.

if i added up the time, half would just be looking at them. they're works of art ... that can be ridden across the country.

I no longer actively hunt for old bikes (well, not entirely true) but a couple did come my way this year:

1982 Peugeot Course for free...

195? CCM Roadster for free...

1955 CCM Rambler for $20...

1972 Mercier for free but had to pay shipping costs...

199? Waterford for a heck of a lot, almost a divorce amount, but Mrs. Me said OK and the Waterford, with full Campy ten speed is my newest keeper...

I made an effort to downsize, however I think I failed. Mostly upgraded the fleet by selling some good ones that didn't fit.

Started January with a bang with 2 Japanese keepers.

Indy Fab (got the most mileage on this one)

Saved the best for last.
