You've managed to score some of the most amazing bikes that fit into my own particular... idiom.

But this is the bike I'm totally excited to see how it's going to turn out on the build.

Only 3 this year
1973 Holdsworth Record

mostly complete, but I broke it down before pics. Already straightened the fork, found a correct RD & front rim, and most of the decals. Need the correct saddle (B5 or B15) and one pedal dust cap.

Future C&V - the last of the Magnesium Dogmas (2009).

Now built up with Campy & other mostly Italian goodness.

And a '97 (IIRC) Trek 800 Sport. Gonna have about $60 in it all fixed up, and it'll be worth about that

Compared to some of you guys, there is nothing worth getting around here! Mostly what I find in my area are at best things like Raleigh Capris, Fuji sports 12, but mostly its people trying to give me clapped out walmart bikes. I did however score this Davidson early this year, and was encouraged to get it and the box of parts it came with for 200.

This is the initial build, I don't take many pictures, need to do an update with the new Flyer and the bar leather colored from use.
[IMG][/IMG]

And on its shake down.

Coolest part was selling two things out of the box and recouping the initial cost. Thanks to all the posters here who told me to buy it! Its got some quirks, but it rides like nothing else I have ever owned. Its got one tiny nick in the chain stay now, got to find some touchup paint.

In an effort to simplify, I have been giving away and selling off bikes this year. I wasn't planning on buying any bikes but when this Trek 610 came up for sale on my local CL, I jumped. It is too small for me but the price was right.

Here it is in "as received" condition. It is currently all apart in my workshop awaiting a repaint of that hideous yellow seat tube.

I got this bike early in the year

And for my son as a high school bike

And let three go, a PY10FC frameset (sold), a Dahon Boardwalk (given away), a Novara hybrid (given away).

So it was an n-1 year.

Hmm.... an interesting year.

First, a budget road bike to get me through late winter and early spring in New York. Swiftly ridden and swiftly sold.

A titanium MTB, because the frame came along. Rode for a bit then sold. I prefer my rigid single speed.

A new, 11-speed version of my 1987 Tempo, because it seems my custom 650b road frame will require a bit more time/patience on my part.

A cyclocross bike that has greatly exceeded any expectations I may have had. This frame rules.

Sorry for all the non-CV content... the last year has caused me to stray. On the bright side, I'm riding more than ever.

Just two additions this year, a 1974 Raleigh Super Course Mk II and a 1990 Univega Nuovo Sport.
I like them both a lot.

Placed two bikes on long-term loan this year, a 1974 Nishiki Competition (too big) and a 1990s Lotus M2000 (too small).
So the available basement space balanced out; I am really at the max.

Now the trick is to keep all the bikes in the riding rotation.

I have been trying to stick to one in equals one out.

The Serotta replaced my 1973 Paramount as my main road bike with a triple.

The Black Mountain Cycles replaced the Mongoose as my trail bike. I still need to sell the Mongoose.

Four seems to be a manageable number of bikes for me, but I may still add a project for this winter.

Only one purchase in 2014, but shipping damage has me thinking repaint. Replicate the existing color (which was a factory repaint many years ago) or make it 7-11 colors? It's an '86 SLX frame so a few years before 7-11, but what the hey.....
Opinions?

I gave the ti roadie (not c&v) to son-in-law-to-be; but it may not stick, which is OK by me.
N+0 is my planned game moving forward for roadies.

A shout out to OddJob2 - without seeing all 42 purchases - the keepers are fine bicycles, and about my size, too.
I nominate him for 'Honorary C&V Proficionato of 2014'

As I mentioned earlier, I acquired a grail frameset of sorts for me, a Roland Della Santa.

I am trying to build this one a little on the fancy side.

After some research and gifted holiday dollars, I just ordered a Nitto Craft 1 stem and a Nitto s83 seatpost.

Can't wait for them to arrive. At the same time, I ordered a new set of Nitto Noodles.

My new flagship, since May. 1971-ish Grandis:

1985 Shogun Prairie Breaker I, which made a quick and easy conversion to drop-bar tourer.

1982 Motobecane Jubile Sport, as found, now the bike I keep at my in-laws to have something to ride in the Tacoma/Gig Harbor area

1985 Raleigh Elkhorn, I got in in August, I think? Hasn't seen much use yet, may be a short timer. Anyone need one of these?

1990 Cannondale touring bike, as found, just last week.

Plus a half dozen or so flips (all too small for me, but too cheap to pass up) that made some of the above possible.

I can't stand it! LOL - When I go to Craigslist, I find welded, water-pipe Schwinns and Wal-Mart BSOs. The only luck I've had lately is a mid-80s Schwinn Sprint that needs repainting and is missing most of its parts. Sigh... Keep posting those beautiful restores - I can enjoy vicariously!

Good luck with the post. I bought this Burly in 2013 and I am still working on getting the old stoker post out. Be careful if you cut it, the post on mine was long (down to the blue tape). The captains post was fine. I really need to get it out this winter because tandems take up so much space, especially if they are not being used.

I've been focusing on quality over quantity. I have sold 3 bikes this year thank god!

That being said, I only acquired two this year; a Ted Wojcik roadie, and, a Schwinn Racer. I only paid for the Ted and I'm happy I got it.

Ted Roadie:

1961 Racer (the big one). I already owned the tiny 1963 Racer.

I bought this mid-80's Vianelli Super F&F (SL I think) on ebay last Spring, it was an old repaint with lots of scratches & a drewed rd-cable stop.
I had some parts, wheel set, and slowly gathered the rest till about 2 weeks ago I began riding it. It fits me fine and is light and responsive.

I grabbed a few this year, but nothing was too fancy. This year my goal was to average no more than $50 to acquire each bike. What I enjoy is the refurbing of what I get, and all of them certainly needed it.

I feel your pain. Theres a clapped out looking Gran Prix for 300, and a Nishiki that's in decent shape for 250 on the nearby craigslist, but since I don't "need" another bike, I told my family that unless its a great deal, I wont get one. I think that the price is to high for these, and they have been listed for months. In this area, lowballing on price seldom works.
