The Olmo brand doesn't get a lot of publicity here in the USA, but they have made some fine bikes. in 1997, I picked up a used Olmo Competition, complete with heavily panto'ed Campy NR components. It's been a good bike and has seen a lot of miles ever since...

Judging by the posts on the forum, the correct order in terms of priorities is:

1. bikes
2. cats
3. wives
4. cars
5. sewing machimes
6. guitars
7. dogs

That's a sweet looking bike. Any close-ups of the pantographed components?

My cat's a bit of a handful, but does a good eel count?

I've got a Flickr group for my Olmo Competition. Most of the pics are from the days of film cameras, and the scans aren't that great. I really need to find a nice sunny day and take some good detailed photos.

I've got the panto'ed chainrings too, but they are tucked safely away in the parts box in order to not wear them out. I should dig them out and get some quick photos of them.

My version...

1. Wife
2. Dog (after all...she meets me at the door every day...)
3. Bike(s)...N+1
4. Tools...

Is there any other need? OK, maybe food! Just had some awesome Rotisserie Chicken with Garlic Potatoes and good, ole Southern Cole Slaw...yummy!!!!

Eels are quite cool...we once had one that survived OUTSIDE the aquarium for three hours! He slipped under the stand for the aquarium and it took us forever to find him...slid him back into the water...and a few minutes later away he went!

Lol I had a very similar experience- found Hector stuck to the floor in the morning and had to gently pry him off with a spatula and water. Put him back in the tank and he was good as new.

Hi devinfan,

off the topic - I must say that your Olmo thread is most enjoyable to read thanks to your style of responding to those contributing to the discussion.

It's a great bike with a very nice owner.

Congrats on the Olmo and partner in crime.

Thanks Gary! - I've been busy riding it (-15 here but no snow!) and making little adjustments to it to dial in the ride. I decided Campagnolo would look more suitable than the Shimano mix I had going for the drivetrain, hopefully you'll agree. Still a work in progress.

Updates:

It's looking good. I will ALWAYS agree to a Campagnolo upgrade - hahaha. It looks like a fantastic riding bike.

-15……..I can't imagine, in my wildest dreams, what -15 must feel like let alone going for a bike ride in those conditions. You Canadian's are a tough breed.

Thanks Gary. I wish I was in Australia now! I lived there for a year when I was a kid and loved it. -15 is not the end of the world, although it's about my limit. I rode in -20 last year and had an astonished expression on my face the whole time. The secret to riding through the winter here is long underwear and wool mittens - yes mittens, not gloves, it's all about the mittens...

Mittens - my lesson for today. I used to use motorcycle gloves when the weather turned really cold here - and I'm talking in the region of 0 to +3 degrees!!! I think my poor little fingers still felt the cold - should have had mittens.
