OK, I'm in for the full 200K. Sounds like a fun time! Only thing is, I'm not a camper so Rudy, if you could e-mail me your general location (rccardr@cox.net) I'll grab a room in a local hotel. Which I'd be happy to share with any other non-camper types. Dallas, please save me a spot in the Sprinter, but if the hotel thing means a lot of back and forth from Rudy's I'll just drive myself.

Pastor Bob, you should drive down for this and get away from the snow-ish stuff likely to be around in April.

No fuss. We have time to work it out. I'm really looking forward to this, despite the fact I'll probably be at or near the back of the pack on this ride.

I would but I'm planning on being a snowbird from about April 8-May 4. I'm heading to FL-GA-TX-TN with my new Dahon folder. So if I do 100K on 20" wheels, does that count for something?

You got it man. This is going to be fun... Perhaps if things aren't too hectic with the move to my new home we might even be able to ride before going to Jersey for this event!

These rules are too tough. I don't own a bike older'n me. They are getting older but apparently not fast enough because they never seem to catch up with me.

I do have a bike that is older'n I was when I bought it. Will that do?

I've had the Centurion on the Cyclops for a few days now. Can I count that mileage towards the total?

Yeah, rhm's a tough guy when it comes to rules. Me, I'm a TEGWAR kinda guy.

Counting the mileage on the trainer is questionable, but you'll need to clear that with rhm!

You *really* need to come down and do this ride. You'll have a great time.

I wasn't sure, but now that I've read your questions I conclude that I need I had more coffee. For now, let me say that my rules, such as they are, are meant to be descriptive rather than prescriptive, and certainly not proscriptive. As for your rules, well... where's the coffee?

Staying in MD, closer to DC, or are you relocating somewhere far flung? The curious want to know!
@rhm if I know @jimmuller well enough, he'll bypass the coffee for a well crafted beer--- or a food substance banned from the house due to Sharon's allergies--- such as peanut butter fudge!
@mountaindave, I so want to do this without dropping the $$$$! Do you know if they are riding on a packed trail (I'm thinking a groomed snow mobile trail) under the soft top?

We're moving to Williamsport MD. I will finally have an oversized 2-car garage and workshop sitting on a level 1/2 acre lot.

Well, then, at the risk of being taken seriously yes, I know just what you mean.

What I'm trying to say is: I'm going for a ride the weekend of the Eroica California (probably on the Saturday), and wouldn't it be fun if a bunch of other C&V people came and joined me riding their C&V bikes. Or, barring that, if other bunches of C&V people would get together the same weekend and do something similar.

If my ride sounds like something you'd like to do, then maybe you should join us! If you'd rather fly to CA for that ride, I'm pretty sure it will be better attended, better organized, more expensive, and it will probably have better scenery. If you'd rather do something else entirely... well, that, too, has its advantages!

I would love to participate and will put it on the calendar. But my fitness for the full 122 will be in question. My longest day so far ( in top summer form) was only 65 miles with a lot of Chesapeake Bay head wind.

One suggestion to consider (as long as its real easy for you) is to plan your route in a huge figure 8 with the mid point somewhere only a few miles from your house and our cars. Then those of us of lesser knee and thigh or those who have not fully recovered from the ravages of winter can just quietly slip off the back of the line, turn and jump over to the endpoint. We could then either pack the car and go or sit around under your tall trees telling ribald stories and making up FPE (flimsy but plausible excuses) about why we could not do the long haul.

Thanks for tossing this out there. We need more C&V gatherings here in the mid-atlantic region.

Well... For geographic reasons, that's just not a ride I'd want to do. All the best riding is farther from home. But if you were to organize a shorter ride, such as 50 miles through the Pine Barrens, I'll work with you to ensure our two groups ride together for most of it.

I can't make either ride... but if other like minded individuals are in (or close to) Wichita Ks and want to stage a mini c&v outing, possibly on dirt roads in the area, pm me. We could meet, ride, maybe take some snapshots, and then lie about our accomplishment on the forum.

I'll keep this in mind. Not sure my old legs will be ready by that date since I live in New England and not even thinking about hitting the road for another 7-8 weeks. But I need a shake down of my L'Eroica Tuscany bike I just built.
