Sears Roebuck, made in Austria with a Sachs Torpedo shifter and coaster brake hub. It is probably the lightest 3 speed I ever owned. Just an odd bike I thought interesting.

I think Puch made a lot of these Sears bikes. I saw a ten speed on my local CL recently with Campy dropouts! Any idea on the tubing of yours?

thanks for sharing this bike.
that's quite a saddle she is wearing; looks like something one might encounter on an exercycle.
bike shows to be in fine fettle.

Although she thinks she has one like J LO, her area that uses the saddle is kinda bony, but if she reads this it is beautiful ( But Bony ). That seat makes me laugh every time I walk past it.

Ice, took a good look at the bike just now. Not a single decal indicating what tubing it is. But, I always just thought it was so light because of the alloy rims. But, that tubing must be lighter than steel on the Raleighs I've owned. That Dreigang system works good enough, and I can take apart a SA 5 speed hub put it back together in my sleep, I wouldn't even try to fool with the internals of that system. Imagine going to your LBS and asking for a replacement 2nd speed cog because you lost yours when it shot out of the hub, taking the spring and pawl with it. My LBS does even want to service anything with down tube shifters. Kinda like Harley Davidson with the old Shovel heads. Its not done anymore, and parts are hard to get. Thanks When I use to work in my shop in NYC we started selling Puch mopeds. What "ROUGHLY" engineered pieces of stuff. But the bikes were nice, pretty much standard 10 speeds with mid level parts of the day.

Strange, because friction shifters are so trivial to work on, compared to the newer indexed stuff. Also, they last roughly forever.

Yes -- Steyr-Daimler-Puch, the big bicycle (and automobile parts, and firearms) manufacturer of Graz, Austria. Capo, a much smaller manufacturer based in Vienna, exported a about 400 bikes to the US, and many of these were sold at Puch dealerships, leading at least one of my friends to mis-identify Capo as the "top of the Steyr-Puch line."
I think your frame tubing is plain gauge carbon steel -- Peugeots of the same vintage are pretty light, as well.
