Reassembled my first-ever Dyna-Drive pedals with some confusion and false starts. Hung some parts on the Univega and got the headset in order. Discovered the joy of working with D-A components. They weren't messin' around with this stuff, were they?

What I did today was install a new BB on the Grandis and then do some prep work on some sew-ups. We've had rainy weather for the last zillion weeks and commuting through it I've gotten tired of riding in the rain. Which is why we didn't take the tandem out today. What the heck, if it wasn't for rainy days we'd never get anything done.

Having our annual club "New rider call-out" meet and greet. The rain held-off and we had group rides by speed category. Everything went perfectly once again this year.

We had a total of 83 participants including 21 new guest riders. The donuts were a huge hit along with the Subway sandwich lunch after the rides.

Finished the new wheelset. Ambrosio19 extra elites laced to NOS Miche Competition hubs. Will prob'ly run them first on my 91 Eros

First shakedown of the Vittorio Strada I adapted to use as this year's entry for the Retroronde and L'Eroica Limburg. Lowered to gearing a bit so it now has a range of 32-94 inches, which should be good enough.

It will need slightly more tire. I'm still undecided: should I mount a pair of the tried and trusted Pasela TG Folding 28's or try the Challenge Strada Bianca 30's I just bought?

Anyway, the first couple of miles were pretty good. Very stable bike for its shortish wheelbase.

Mating the new GB stem and bar to the frame. Gonna roll it around on the old rims then rebuild the rear to a 40 hole 3 speed hub when I find it. Can go SS when I get the original Atom off. Mostly using the parts that came with it except the crank which needs to be changed to a single.

Rebuilt a few derailleurs. All are going on harder riders, so just a tear-down and rebuild.

Ready to rock. Cables will get replaced once the setup is dialed in. These feel better in the stand than the Deer Head (though I love the way those look - reminds me of Battle Beasts, oddly enough).

The rest of the drivetrain got a pretty thorough cleaning as well. These Sugino rings seem to wear fast, though this bike sees the most miles and a good amount of those are in the dirt.

Well this will be a little silly, but it is definatly C+V as the 40 year old pool is getting wokred on to get it going before the better part of summer gets away. 24ft. round X 4ft. deep above ground Doughbouy still going strong and hopefully will keep me riding longer, further, stronger.

giving a first attempt at removing a seized seatpost from an '85ish Fuji Sagres I picked up the other day thinking it was a great deal.

Best of luck. We C&V'ers know your struggle well. The seatpost may have to be sacrificed to get it out. I had to do that to a bike or two. Sucks, but the frame is more important (unless the seatpost is very nice or you are fond of it, then that is a tough choice). Hopefully you have a mounted seat as leverage and can use a set of spreaders (or a carefully placed screwdriver) at the seatpost clamp (removing the clamp bolts) to ease the frame's death grip.

In my C&V land, I am putting the finishing touches on a 1983 Fuji Supreme that I will be selling. Most of the parts I had lying around. Some nice Suntour bits with a few Shimano pieces joining the party.

Will be building another from-the-parts-bin bike for sale and doing a brake caliper swap on my Ross. And then flippin' riding it!

Hey, DD. I've taken too long on that one, I still need to make time to build the wheels. Tough this time of year. I've only built a couple sets so far and want to try some thinner spokes on this build. I have a set of the same spokes for another build, so the plan is to build that 'other' set first, see how well I can manage the windup of the thinner spokes, then if all goes well build the wheels for the Klein. They'll be black Arc en Ciels to 36 hole Weyless hubs F/R laced with DT revolutions. Maybe a different set of spokes on the DS rear. It's on the hooks waiting for the wheels, then it's just a matter of stringing and taping it up. Need to address the rear two cable guides as well. All the parts are on hand. So close. The bike came with c1976 28h wheels according to the locknuts and I don't exactly have a climber's physique...

I threw on the chain and snapped a couple of pics earlier.





According to the bathroom scale it weighs in at 20lb as pictured plus all cables, forgot to include the tape.

I'm attempting to create a decaleur with stone knives and bearskins. It looks a bit crude now, but I plan to sculpt it once I get the basic functionality down, ie, remove all the bits that don't look cool. It's 3/16" 6061, so most of it will get cut away.

Took off early this morning with my son's Della Santa. Trying to get in 100 before the storms hit this afternoon. Just installed new Kool Stops on the bike last night.

After several years of the occasional feeble, unsuccessful attempt, I finally got a triple crankset to work on my '77 Raleigh Record this morning. The crank is a Sakae SX, and the reason I was finally successful was giving up on using a vintage FD. Got it to work by using a modern, cheap, Shimano FD-TZ31 --possibly the ugliest FD in existence. It was actually working with the original 5S spindle, but the chainline looked to be about 47mm. I had found a 5N at some point, and that gave a chainline more like 45mm. Looks like it's going to work. Bolts holding the granny ring actually clear the BB shell this time!

Finishing up a front wheel for my Lejeune piste. Starting on the rear wheel shortly. Campag Record hub laced to a gold anno Mavic OR10. Swapped some nicer brake parts onto the Masi.

Oh yeah...rode 33 miles.
