1 1/8 (1" dia.) quill stem , TALL with short reach

Picked up a clean Rockadile frameset this weekend. Wanting to build a trekking / grinder. Only hitch so far is that it
runs a quill stem that is a true 1" dia. where it inserts into the fork. So, I need a Tall stem with 60mm reach max.
Top tube is 1" longer than normal for me. This is why the short reach. I have been looking and not having much luck.

Suggestions????

Thanks

I was looking for something similar last year and came up with just a single replacement stem, which had one of those adjustable necks on it that I don't care for. Can't remember where I saw it online, I wanted a non-adjustable quill stem for that oversize spec. I then realized that it might become similarly hard to find replacement headsets for that size, so I bought one even though I don't need it right now. That size seems to be abandoned.

Nitto Technomic and Dirt Drop stems have long quills and are available in short reaches as well.

Amazon.com : Origin8 Quill Adapter : Sports & Outdoors

You could go with an adapter like this one and use a threadless riser stem.

+1

The Nitto Technomic should work for you.

They're available in 50mm to 120mm extension lengths in 10mm increments.

I don't think the technomic would work for 1 & 1/8" headset quill... like found on some modern hybrids and mountain bikes.

If you can't find something specific, my suggestion is to look for an adjustable 1 & 1/8" quill stem and adjust the angle very steep to get the effect of a tall stem with short reach. I know my 2003 Giant Sedona came with an adjustable stem, but I let the shop keep it when I had them swap forks, and move me to a threadless headset.

Also, on a quick search, Nashbar has a variety of lengths in 1 & 1/8" quills: Nashbar ATB Comfort Quill Stem

Sunlite alloy stem: Amazon.com : Alloy 2-Bolt Stem : Bike Stems And Parts : Sports & Outdoors

Only 80mm, so not quite short enough, but non adjustable. I bought one for my backup bike. I think I found that stem from reading the drop bar MTB thread.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I spoke with a machinist here at work. After giving him a sketch, he said he will make me a bushing / shim
to enable me to use one of the stems I currently have.

Thanks again.

Avoid shims at any and all costs.

Do any of your LBSs have access to J & B Importers? They have a few options that could work.

Have you looked on eBay? I did a search for "1-1/8 quill stem" and got lots of results, eg:
