When I'm about to die from hunger one day I might consider that generous offer. LOL

Well, I picked up an '85 Paramount for $70 three weeks ago, I was just trying to stay with the trend. "Stay hungry, my friend."

Yeah, what he said... what's the story with the (gorgeous) phone dial hubs? Great color staging too, BTW!

Very nice-looking bike, and I'll bet that Gran Sport kit works as well as NR. To pick a nit, I would have routed the brake cables behind the handlebars.

On more than one occasion I have caught my hand on the front brake cable while riding. I might just start running my cables in front of the bars.

This bicycle was purchased on EBAY a few years back. It has some pedigree. The owner was ED or Theo Kron. He was a US cycling team mechanic and his family were local racers in the Chicago area. The bike was equipped with different rims front and rear. It also had a Gran sport rear hub and a Large flange NR front hub. I wanted to put a nice clean set of REtro Mod wheels and I had a pair of the Large flange "phone dial" hubs I got from a barn find. Didn't have matching skewers and the mavic rims you see here. I took off the Gran sport rear derailleur because it was the only "weak link" this bicycle has. The fancy seatpost replaced a cheep SR single bolt that was on there. If you guys know my collection you will also know I like my bikes pretty. What you don't see is the white San Marco gold plated rolls saddle that will be on it soon.

Cheers.

Sweet bike.

Theo Kron at the Northbrook Velodrome.
"Chewnyas to the line, Seenyas on deck!"

I heard those lines week after week. He was a great guy that gave me pointers and continued support through my racing days.

And Eddy was my age. Racing the Junior catagory on his custom black Eisentraut. Great times.

The only reason I know that name was because when I worked for GT bicycles I called on the George Garner stores. George had a picture of the KRON clan on his wall at the shop. I understand that he was very involved. One of the rims was marked...
