Miyata 610 and replacing it's BB,...a Phil Wood BB?..what size, etc??

So I noticed that the original BB on my Miyata 610 is in need of a re-greasing,...very sluggish!!
BUT,...
I figured, now's the time to just go with a new sealed BB and forget about it (keep all original BB parts of course if I want to put them back on!!)

I'm thinking of going with a Phil Wood BB (I have one in my 1981-82 Peugeot Super Competition, picked up a lightly used one and haven't looked back!),...I'm not sure yet as to the size I'll need to replace, (if someone already knows, feel free to pass it along).

Any other suggestions as to a BB? I know the Wood's can't be beat, but I thought I'd ask.

Size depends on what crankset you have on there.

why not just overhaul the one you have?

buy a nice bag, saddle or pedals with the cash burning a hole in your wallet.

It depends on the crankset. Get some calipers and measuring the spindle length of the current bottom bracket. If it's a Miyata, you'll need a JIS square taper.

Well, it's not like there's cash burning a hole in my wallet so much as I had scored a nice used Phil Wood on ebay for cheap a while ago, so my hopes are high for a repeat, otherwise, I'm not in the dough enough to just go slap down cash for a new one!
I may just overhaul the old one though,... that was my initial idea right off the bat, then I started thinking,...

My calipers are dead (dead battery that is), and my analog ones are missing? (probably put in that "safe place" that consumes all!!)
I know its JIS square though,.. that much I knew. The "what size" was a dopey question,....no idea why I even tossed it in come to think of it??

Was your Peugeot Swiss threaded, like my 1980 PKN10 Competition, or had they already gone ISO by 1982, making Swiss very short-lived?

I would try to repack your existing bottom bracket. If it is still not satisfactory, I would replace with a shimano cartridge. You really can't go wrong with them as long as you install them correctly. Fwiw the custom triple crankset I had on my 610 used a 127mm spindle. I would have gone with a UN-55 but found a cheap and available UN-26 locally.
