I know I have too many, but I am still looking on CL (just a little more picky). I would like to get rid of six or seven when the weather is better.

Some of mine have a sentimental attachment - any Fuji for example. Some I am fond of simply because they are unloved brands/models - I am the protector. These are most probably the ones to cull.

I really need to sort them into:

A: I hardly ever ride them, why are they here?
B: They have no monetary value, why are they here?
C: They don't fit you and your wife and son don't ride them, why are they here?
D: Is it a project in your imagination only, or is it a real project - why are they here?

If I can get this done, I should have some cash to replenish the stash. Rinse and repeat? Oh well.

So far I'm definitely in closet-cleaning mode. Moved two frames, a couple wheelsets and some components at the annual swap meet a couple weeks ago, passed along another set of wheels to a friend and am looking to part with the Masi Special during Eroica California. Getting rid of some other stuff on Ebay as I write. And I'm trying to figure out a pass-along deal with my last holdout "extra" frameset and a C&V member.

Since riding my bike lately has been more akin to torture than pleasure, who knows - by the end of 2015 I might have moved on to something entirely different. We'll see. I hope not!

But I do need to make some room, and to that end I'm having great success paring down the collection. It needed to be done.

I hear you. I won't totally give up on bikes though and I hope you don't either.

I have a couple of other interests cooking. This off-road focus I currently have is carrying into these.

The siren song calls.........

Most likely N+0 for me.....
Still have to finish two projects, and it's the same budget problems hitting me with both. I can say to hell with everything else and finish both project within the next month, but we all know that is not reality/ Only thing that can get me back to N+1 mode immediately would be if a personal grail bike like an early 80's Gitane Pro with Columbus tubing falls out of the sky for me to buy, but alas, it is still my "Moby Dick!

n-4. I already own the bike I have always wanted, and I have two mountain bikes that are WAY too small for me that I need to sell, a crappy 90's Huffy that I should get 20 bucks for and has been hanging in the garage for 10 years, and a schwinn sport womans model that I need to get rid of. That leads me to my 2 favorite bikes and the ones I need- The tarmac and the Sirrus

I should be n-1, but that may turn back into n+0. I can really only justify two bikes. The Marinoni gets as much riding time as possible, and the Rambouillet is now the dedicated fender bike. There's only room in our house for three readily accessible bikes, and that must include my wife's, who rides as much as I do. The extensively upgraded Miyata 912 doesn't get any riding time now that we don't have a vacation home.

I've offered the 912 to my son who likes classic lugged bikes and shares my odd fit proportions. But if he takes it, my slightly small Klein that he's now using will come home, and I'll have an equally hard time (emotionally) selling that one. Maybe I could justify it as a "guest bike"!

And then there's the possibility that I'll find a frame that my wife will consider suitable as her backup bike. That would put me at n+1 and a storage situation.

Since I became prt of the C&V club last year I have picked up a few more bikes than I plan on keeping. I fixed a few up and sold them or gave them away and also fixed a few that are now part of my semi permanent bike roster. I do have another 6 bikes and frames that I plan to finish up and either sell or give awy this spring and summer. They were either free or a little too small/too large for me but I couldn't pass up a free or really nice cheap bike to practice on. So yes I hope to be n-6 this year with the hopes of picking up one framset that I had to pass up earlier.

72Paramount, I have some potentially acquisitive questions to ask about your Follis. Unfortunately, I don't have enough posts to be able to PM you (and the gap is big enough that I'm not going to get there any time soon). If you would be kind enough to PM me here with an address where I can contact you outside BF, I'd appreciate it. If you'd like to check out my credentials first, I'm Peter Adler on Classic Rendezvous.

Thanks!

I need to be around N-6. I went on a bender when some folks were dumping decent bikes cheap on CL in late 2014 and early 2015. I'm beginning to feel like a hoarder, and that feels creepy.

The plan was to do an N-1+1.

I don't know what the plan is now.

I'm N-3+1. Sold my Trek Stache 8, Traded my Gary Fisher Montare for a Walmart Schwinn Jaguar, and parted out my Cinelli Supercorsa. Not sure there's anything else I want to get rid of. My stable now resembles someone who loses too much weight and looks sickly. Haha. Not used to to room in my shed. In a 9x10 it gets pretty cramped with a 7 bikes at one time, park work stand, tool chest, big work bench and my torch kit.

At a baker's dozen of my own and 3-4 others that were purchased to re-sell I am definitely at the N-x stage. I need a 12 step program to cure my "touring bike collectivitis" disease. As hard as it may be my goal at a minimum is to part with a Cannondale T400, Schwinn Voyageur, 2 Nishiki Cascades, an old German 3 speed, and possibly my Univega Via Carisma. I have too much duplication and have run out of ideas to define a real need/use for some of them. The only real needs I have are a need for more garage space and a need for some extra cash for my daughter's upcoming wedding!

I may be adding to the For Sale thread soon......

Getting married in 17 days, honeymooning in St. Augustine, FL with a pair of 20" folders (my Raleigh Twenty and a Yugoslavian folder I built up for Maggie with a S-A kickback 2-speed hub). Upon returning home, the house goes on the market 1 May. I'm looking at downsizing, so there's definitely going to not be an N+1 effect around here this year. Actually, an N-1 is guaranteed because the Raleigh Sports ladies frame that Maggie used to ride is going to my sister when she comes down for the wedding.

One bad realization, if the house sells, is that until I find a replacement and come up with new shop space (assuming its not available immediately) my workshop is going into storage for possibly the next year. Which means the third Rossin frame is getting packed away, and I won't be looking for anything new.

I think I ought to sell my 1971 Super Course. I had a ton of fun with it, but I don't ride it any more. In fact, I don't ride anything lately except for my heavy Bianchi Volpe.

N-1 so far. I'm not adverse to getting rid of more if I can find a suitable upgrade where I can justify getting rid of a few of my mid-range bikes. The problem is finding that nice upgrade.

It has been a good March towards reclaiming garage space for something other than bikes. Sold four reconditioned bikes, a DX-3000, Lotus Challenger, Hardrock, and Motobecane Mixte on one single afternoon in Ann Arbor. Then I went away for 8 days. In for 36 hours and then traveling again.

And when you returned home there were five more bikes in the garage? You know what kind of mischief they can get into when you aren't there to supervise their behavior.

So far I'm at N+1, hoping to end up at N + 1 - 1 at least.

Seriously thinking of another… If I do purchase it, then I will have a functional duplicate… so one should go.

I don't own a Cannondale. Worse... I have NEVER owned a Cannondale.

I don't mind my collection rotating a bit with bicycles coming and going. I sold off 3 C&V bikes last year to pay for new Trek. So now I have room to add a C&V Cannondale.... not sure whether that's a + or -.
