I figured it must have been top secret!

I'm liking taking a month off after Easter and will try to do the same in April 2016, so if the 2nd NJ L'Eroica is that month, I'll probably not attend. If you plan any other rides this year I'll do my best to clear a Sunday so I can participate.

I'm also hoping to host a ride here in NH. You can take Amtrak from Penn Station to 30 miles away in White River Junction, VT. I'll pick you up if you want to participate (I know how you don't like driving but like trains). I'm certain I can, @nlerner, @BluesDaddy, @ftwelder, @southpawboston, @jonwvara, etc., etc., can provide a bike.

I neglected to mention prowler's tale, from memory, of a guy who rode a bike into a river.
It had rhythm, and you could drink to it.

I had the pleasure of listening to @Prowler and @Ed. tell that tale the day after Christmas. Great tale.

Lest the moment slip away and be lost, I'll say it now: Nice pics, nice ride reports! Wish we could've been there.

I agree. looks like a great ride and good bunch of folks. Thanks for sharing.

BTW: Rudi and Neal, I like your choice in clothing. Now I need to find some comfortable pants to ride(a 100 miles) in.

Rudi really did an outstanding job planning and leading this ride. The weather was just PERFECT and the roads were great. Lots of variety from peaceful farm roads to scenic rides round the lake to upscale neighborhoods to down scale back woods hovels. Variety all the time and, except for in the "Pinies" the road surfaces were great. The Pinies were a fine adventure, quiet forest, lots of scenery and even some pretty scary sections with weird Druid like amulets hung in lone trees in the middle of nowhere, strange metallic sounds like chains dragging on the ground, spooky hissing sounds and creepy yellow headed creatures lurking behind the trees. Jersey Devils? Donno, didn't stick around.

The lunch stop was a perfect place though the gale force winds coming off the fields were enough to blow the water bottles off the tables. Fresh cooked to order food was well received as we enjoyed the breezy sunshine and prepared for the final leg. A few guys were so fueled by the great food that they decided on an unplanned extra 5 miles to burn off energy. Rudi would have none of that though and ran em down and turned them like a cowboy turning stray cattle. Nice job. Don't mess with Rudi. Plan A is the ONLY plan.

I packed it in at the 81 mile point and got home around 6:15p and got all the animals fed before dark. I know that the cell phone cameras were real busy with photo Ops, artsy landscapes and plenty of selfies. Many of these are likely to be posted soon. I'm a luddite so had no camera.

Thanks again everyone. Great to meet Robbie and Doc and Neal and James and Phil and to see Rudi again. Excellent company for such a trip.
Sorry I wasn't able to make the ride, but happy I was able to make it to hang out and drink some beer.

I am hopeful that things can only improve from where they are now. We'll have to see.

No!!!! That's horrible! Your new or old house? I see your Sprinter is safe behind the house. Any injuries or bike damage?

That is our new home. Closed on January 30. House got hit at 5:05 AM, March 12. We hadn't even finished moving into the place when it happened. We are frequently up and about by 5 AM, but I was on holiday that week so we weren't up and about yet, though we were awake when it happened. No injuries, thankfully. As SWMBO indicated no bicycles can be in the house, there was no bicycle damage. The house, OTOH, suffered extensive damage, as it took out the entire kitchen and Florida room.

No, I didn't recognize the Sprinter, was distracted by the little white car in front. Oh man, that is a serious bummer. Glad you are okay. Hope you get decent insurance help on the. Yeesh.

I was sorry to be unable to make it, but the reports and pictures make me happy. Keep them coming! Sometimes I'm reminded that we are a nice bunch of folks. I like impressing Rudi's wife that we're not a bunch of wackos.

Given that the claim is still active, I'm not saying too much. Let's suffice it to say the driver was impaired, had a suspended drivers licence and far from adequate insurance coverage. I'm stuck dealing with the damage using my homeowners insurance policy. There have been numerous sticking points on the cost and scope of repairs which aren't resolved yet. I got some welcome pointers from @RobbieTunes on dealing with the claim. Thanks again, Robbie!

Mine are chinos from Target, the cheaper (more poly, less cotton) variety. These really are the best cycling pants I've found. I've tried numerous bicycling-specific pants and none of them work for me. I'm told I should stop being such a cheapskate and shell out a couple hundred bucks for some good cycling shorts, but I don't see the point if I have no complaint with these. One of these days I'm going to buy new ones and convert them to plus-fours right away, but so far I've been too lazy.

Ah yes. @ed do we really wanna be famous for this? It was a hoot reciting Mulga Bill's Bicycle at Christmas with Ed, one line each, back and forth for the whole tale. Thanks Ed for telling me about it.

And it was fun to share with the guys there in sunny NJ. At which point Rudi reminded us of Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen:
I tell ya son you're gonna drive me to drinkin, if you don't stop driving that........(all together now).............Hot.....rod.....Lincoln.

Another raconteur.

Clothing is a personal thing but if you want some comfort, I would recommend considering Voler apparel. I have several and they last and are comfortable. I usually buy during sales so only once did I spend more than $100, $125 for long leg bibs.
