Braze on/Band on saga

Hi,

We want to build up an '86 Mercian road frame with a Shimano Dura-Ace 7400 groupset but only problem is the frame doesn't have braze on fittings. Does anyone know if there is some sort of band-on-to-braze converter for the downtube and front mech?

Thanks!

Front mech braze on adapters, in any clamp size desired, are widely available, e.g.,

wiggle.com | Shimano Band On Adapter For Front Derailleur | Derailleurs Front - Road

Problem Solvers, and others, make a DT shifter mount that can be clamped to the downtube to allow installation of braze on DT shifters:

I guess the frame may have been built for bar-end shifters, since there are no DT bosses?

Mercian's are nice bikes - do have a pic or two of the frame, by chance?

That is beautiful!! I would change to aero levers and taller stem but leave it alone.

Very nice. A bit more 'relaxed' (Audax?) geometry than my '84 Professional.

Maybe just build with the band-on DT shifters in mind, as built up in pics, to suit the customer's preference, I guess.

Will look great with the Dura Ace.

Cheers.

If you can find one and are willing to pay the original clamp on set that shipmano made or their shifters was nicer but few and far between these days.

This set is $55 + $4 shipping.

^ Yup. You can find Campy, Suntour, etc., versions too...but not always cheaply or easily.

I wouldn't hesitate to use the Problem Solvers, myself.

I have that Shimano band. It has 6 speed indexed tri color levers on it at the moment. I just have to find it, but I would part with it for a LOT less than 55 bucks? (Minus the shifters of course) Finding it is the problem though, lol.,,,,BD
