I would go with yellow tape and a white saddle.

Well, since you asked, I'm in favor of pulling a color from elsewhere on the bike for the bar tape. Maybe that golden yellow from the text on the (theoretical) seat tube decal? Or possibly the color of the darker ring on the down tube decal... assuming it's not just black. It looks sort of like olive to me.

So are you taking orders? How does one get this sort of opportunity?

Yellow or orange with a black saddle. Or one of those 'camo' tapes in yellow/orange or yellow/white.

Then again... I have clown barf tape. YMMV

Since I did not have a big selection of ribbon or coloured paper, I decided to take to Photoshop! I will likely be getting this San Marco saddle but silver seat post.

Here are my top 3 colours for the grip tape. What do you think?

Note: Not actual tube decals, just design brainstorming.

I prefer white. Black looks flat, yellow is alright but my eye keeps looking at the handlebars & not the overall bike. White hits the sweet spot.

Good point on the yellow. It may be a bit too flashy, but it does look pretty sweet. I may go with the white.

Of those three choices, white is clearly the winner (IMHO of course).

In your original pic the DT lettering looked dark blue or black. That makes a difference.

Yeah I'm still undecided which decal style to go with.

Many options would work in my opinion:

Easiest/Least Maintenance: Black/Black
Hard to maintain, but would look good: White/white
Compromise: White tape/Black saddle (reverse would look bad)
Most Classic, but will get dirty instantly: White Cotton wraps/Black San Marco saddle
If you go with a brown leather saddle: Shellacked Brown cork tape/Brown leather saddle
Hardest to set up but will look great: Shellacked Harlequin White/Orange or Tan/Orange cotton tape/Black Saddle

Thanks for the great feedback and especially the pics! I purchased a white San Marco saddle with black accents (just like the pic example above) but with an alloy seatpost. I will try the white Fizik Performance grip tape out as it appears to have a smooth perforated leather-like finish which should be okay to clean. I will post pics once complete.
