How many hippies do you see riding bikes? None of the ones I knew were ever into physical exertion.

I enjoy reading and write quite a bit, but have never come across the word "jawn". Never, until now, that is.

I grew up across the river from Philly in Cherry Hill, NJ, as well...

Goddammit all my Dutchie stoner jokes don't work anymore since our right-wing gov is banning the herb faster than the States legalize it.

That's okay. You should outgrow it halfway through college, anyways.

Back in the day, if you were riding seriously, the drug of choice was acid. Not weed. Weed mellows you out, slows you down.

It took me a while to work out what you guys meant by 'cotter' pin. I thought that was the US term for split pins.?

I grew up referring to the things which hold the pedals on as 'gudgeon' pins.

Actually, in British car speak, the gudgeon pin is what we would refer to as the wrist pin (connects the piston to the connecting rod).

That was the other use for the term.

Don't you use the term 'cotter pin' to describe what we call split pins.?

I guess so. We have lots of cotter pins and lots of uses for them, but we seldom say split pin.
