You should try it, it's fun. Plus it will push you to go faster and farther.
If I see a group ride in my area published at or below 14 mph I'll give it a try...just to see how it goes.

I went on two rides with a local club. I can hold 17-18 and got dropped both rides. I still support them with dues but no point in going back. 24mph eh? That's pretty fast by anyone's book.

I believe in going fast if the ride is designated as such. I have been towed back on occasion. I also know now that if I go out and burn all my matches, I can suffer home by myself. This past monday, the b group had 4 become a c group while I watched a newer rider bobbing early on and made the decision to pull him thinking the c people would catch us. They didn't. And we made some small directional errors, but made it back safely. I didn't necessarily want to do that, but people have done it for me. And i can try my testing again thursday night.

just keep in mind pace != average. It takes a 17-20 pace (when you can) to average 16....

Sounds like you had fun, it's a blast to get frisky if other riders are up for it, regardless of how fast yer goin
