Glide, usually sold in the running section, goes on like a stick deodorant but is a friction reducing lubricant that is very clean both on the skin and your clothes. Works great and doesn't feel greasy. If you use it anywhere other than your saddle region, you might want to get two sticks.

I second this. Body Glide is great and when it gets wet it gets more slippery. It's not gooie feeling at all. I like the stick type. If I'm getting up really early in the morning I'll put it on before I go to bed. Most any Sports Authority or Dicks Sporting Goods has it.

I have the exact same problem (on the right side) and I agree with all the helpful responses so far, and this may seem too simplistic but regular washing of my bibs/shorts makes a huge difference for me. I cannot explain why (perhaps washing restores the padding/chamois to their original thickness/shape?) In my case, I have also realized on long rides the seam in some bibs seem to drift into a place that causes this problem and I need to adjust my shorts from time to time during the ride. Hope you get it solved as riding is really enjoyable when you do not have to endure the burning and painful sensation from this kind of friction issue, and it can be a real pain in the you know what when not resolved!

Went for a ride yesterday for about seven miles. Was sore by 4 miles. This has to stop I wore a pair of worn out cheap canaris. Today i ordered a pair of these BIG Man's Plus Size Pro Cycling Short Bike Shorts I ordered this saddle last week. Affinity Elite - | Bontrager
i missed a pair of RBS pro shorts. The waist was a little lose. I called that bike shop and they don't ship. Oh well. Let's see how all of this works

A lot of people, and especially big guys, like the bibs better than the shorts, because the waist doesn't roll over.

I've seen these recommended a lot:

Performance Ultra Bib Shorts

I've got a set, and they've been more comfortable than the MTB shorts that I have.

Went to the dermatologist yesterday. I do have some type of fungal infection. Taking some potent durgs to knock it out. Asked her why. She said hot wet dark area. Ideal growth area. I asked was it caused by not washing my shorts enough and was told probay not. Probally what happened I chaffed and never let it heal completely. I received my aero tech pro shorts. There is no chamois in the sit bones area. Don't know if I care for that. Bill

What? Does not seem right, are you confused which way is the front, perhaps? Or did you order shorts without a pad? Shorts should be washed after every use. Once you get this under control lubing up before each ride should help.

I know which is the cent and back. My other shorts have some the of chamois in the butt area. These do not. So I was wondering if this is normal for some types of shorts. I already use a chamois lube. Just wondering.

One of the best cheap remedies for diaper rash in the day when I worked in the medical field was corn starch in an old baby powder bottle.

The onwe thing about kids in diapers no matter how fast you change em, they seem to get diaper rash. Corn Starch was a cheap remedy to make rashes disapear.

Very strange to me but then I have not seen everything. I can't find an example of what you are describing on their website either. Do you have the ability to post a pic? Did you by chance buy a pair for running or triathlon?

This is the best I can do. It is a link to the shorts I bought. The wide part of the chamois is in the front.
BIG Man Pro Cycling Short - 8 Panel - Padded Bike Shorts
i think the chamois picture is four or five pictures from the start.
Thanks for all of the help.

In the pic the part in the back more vertical is the back and should be the widest part for your seated area.

I remember using corn starch on diaper rashes, but when I tried that as an adult, it seemed to feed the fungus, and a little rash turned into a huge rash. The medicated powders without cornstarch work pretty well for preventing the rash though. You can also get a powder with nystatin, but you need a prescription for that one and it doesn't seem to work any better than Gold Bond.

Another thing that helps is to make sure that the area gets dried out once a day...use a hair dryer on the cool setting (but maybe don't tell your wife you're using her hair dryer for that purpose ) or point a fan at the bed and lay there until all those warm, moist areas are thoroughly dry.

Also, buy a bottle of Hibiclens soap and wash the problem area with it every time you shower. You may have to dilute it so it doesn't cause irritation.

Well I developed a small rash or skin irreation on my male jewel sack about a week or so ago. It is healing slow, but I am also using bacitracin ointomet at night. Plus when I am home for the day I wear loose fitting shorts so the air will heal the rash or irreation faster.

Many years ago I worked in a burn unit, and we used oxygen therapy to make burns heal faster.

^^ This! I powder up before every ride and don't have problems anymore.

I bought bibbs and use chamois cream for longer rides. I also went to a Brooks saddle and I love it! 4 hours in the bike Saturday with no butt pain or chafing.

I just wanted to post an update here. If all of this helps others even the better. Since this has started these are the steps that I have taken. Went to my doctor and was told you are just chaffed and it would heal. The wife being smarter then I, had made me an appointment with the dermatologist [ I have had skin cancer before and this was a good bonus to get looked over] was told a I had a fungual from not letting the chaffing dry and the area being warm moist and dark. Local Bike Shop owner says shorts have wrinkles this is bad maybe saddle is wore out. To date I have 99.9% healed up, bought new shorts, aerotech designs pro shorts[ this was thier CS recommendation], shorts fit so so and the chamois wads in the taint area when ridingso these are out. [ side note here called them back now being told I should of ordered the topshelf model]Bought a pair of Specialize BG RBX Pro [made in china] can't these past my hips, so they are going back. Went to Springfld Mo yesterday and picked up the Specialized RBX Pro [these are geometery fit???] made in America. These felt the best two weeks ago, with boxers on. They feel even better with no undies and ride great. 9.5 miles last nite and NO CHAFFING! So now to find another pair at a reason cost.

A little update here. Was still chaffing on the right side after the new saddle and fit. Got pissed after riding the trainer and hurting. Loosened the seat post and bumped a 1/8 inch to the left. 30 days later.............chaffing gone and no creams.

OK, so to sum up:

bike shorts should be snug everywhere - no loose bits!
Chamois should cover everything that touches the saddle (wide part in back)
use chamois cream on rides of 2+ hours if you are bothered.
wash shorts after every ride. if you don't have enough then buy more.
shower immediately after getting off your bike, keep your delicate bits clean and delicate.

And make sure the seat is straight if the chaffing is only on one side.
