TLDR Okay I get it... earbuds while on the bike?

I promised i wouldnt start a new thread however my second thought went unnoticed because my comment was too long· Anyways:

I like to hear my podcasts while riding. I am using earbuds but they keep falling out of my freakin ears with my sunglasses on, and helmet its a tangled mess Id rather not have while on the road (recipe for disaster). Let me hear if you use earbuds or have other ways you listen to your phone while on the road. Ideas?

one ear bud on right ear, left ear open to hear cars, traffic, ect ect. extra bud is wrapped in the right bib loop. Right ear bud with twice wrapped on helmet strap as an anchor point. This ensures the cord doesn't move and I have retain full range of head movement. Sun glasses are always on

I would not trade my Boombot Rex for anything. I simply won't do headphones on the road-- personal choice.

I use a Pyle Bluetooth headset (no wires) or the LG Bluetooth headset that hangs around the neck with short wires going to the ears.

I can't hear things behind me normally due to hearing loss so I am very careful when riding in traffic.

red stretch band included specifically for bike attachment. I put it on the stem on my roadbike, right on the bars of my mtn-bike.

I'm not a fan of ear buds and riding, but you could try googling this.. A guy gets on the train every day with wrap around sunglasses that appear to have integrated ear buds. Assume they are bluetooth.

it looks like the sound is lying horizontal with sound going out (not facing you) does this decrease its effectiveness? You can hear the speaker fine? How does it connect to your iphone?

The speaker is on one end. If you mount on the bar, you just point it up at your head. volume is quite sufficient, especially for a podcast, but doesn't "crank," so to speak. When I mount on the stem, I just point it upwards, perpendicular to the angle of my stem. Volume's fine. Connection to iPhone is bluetooth, power is provided by internal rechargeable battery.

I use a Bluetooth cell phone ear bud in the right ear. It doesn't fit tightly in the ear, like music ear buds, so I can hear pretty well through both ears. Downside is sometimes the wind noise is too loud for the podcast in which case I just switch it off.

Apple iPod/iPhone earbuds are solid so they don't make a tight seal with your ear, and they have vents too. The upshot is that you can hear ok through them. The sort of earbuds with rubber tips are pretty good at sealing out sound.

With the ingenious bike mount they make for it. I have mine on on out-front mount, so it's centered with the stem.

Just use a one piece earbud so you'd be safe on the road. You would hear cars, traffic etc. on the left ear, and music on the right. Try here: Headphones Unboxed

Have a Safe ride always!

Same here on both my road and mountain bike. The only time I don't ride with an ear bud in my right ear is when I am with the family or a group. I use the buds that came with my iPhone. I do not like the buds that have the rubber surround, especially when I get sweaty.

I've used these Sony units for years(workouts, mowing the lawn, biking) and they've been great and actually produce decent sound and are cheap.

I use a scosche boombottle h20. Waterproof and fits in my bottle cage. Speaker on top. For books/pod casts I'd rather use the one ear plugged in. I use the earphones with the around the ear to keep them in.

I cut one of the earbuds off and ride with the one remaining earbud in the right ear. Leaves the left ear to listen for traffic.

I found a stereo to mono single ear bud with a hook that goes around the ear. You can get them for either the right or left ear.

You can use this if you want something mounted to the helmet.
