The event back in April of this year was 5:25 moving time for 75 total miles, just shy of 14mph average pace. It's a leisurely ride, and welcomed (by me) because if it was at my solo ride pace (16.8-17.5mph,) I wouldn't be looking forward to it. Take in the scenery, cruise along, enjoy the ride.

And I don't own a jersey with sleeves, so hey, look forward to that.

@lesper - we tended to yoyo last year too, but regrouped fairly often. We tried to stay together through the screwy bits, like Laguna but hit the gas on some longer sections and just periodically waited.

Actually it was more of, not expecting that pace. I am fully committed to an old day thing and enjoy rides near the beach. I don't get down south much.

I did a Corona to Oceanside ride yesterday with some club members. Weekday traffic was heavy and the ride through Laguna dicey. New asphalt inside the Marine base was welcomed (last time I rode there it was in poor shape).

Riding with us was Russell Cammell. Triple crown hall of fame member with 82 confirmed doubles plus so many centuries he's not counting them any longer. At one time he was riding 2 centuries a month as training rides for the doubles.

Ooh, how'd you enjoy Cannon Rd? I think it's technically Imperial to the top of the hill, but whatever. I rode that exact same stretch of SART last night, thanks for saying hi.

New asphalt is good news - you're right, I was concerned about my fillings last time we rode through.

Does it say "pizza" in the title? No. No it does not.

That doesn't absolve you of the shame though.

I'm thinking a salad at a brewery is a more egregious offense than at a pizza joint!

There was chicken on top of the salad - does that make it OK?

Good meeting you at BTC, Vic.

When I hit Irvine, I usually take mouton to the Aliso Creek trail. The route I take misses the nasty part through Laguna Beach. You can his coast HWY at Crown Valley or Niguel Rd.https://www.strava.com/activities/92112921

I love the fact that we could see 0.07" of rain, but it'll take 1.5 hours for that much to drop.
