I came out pretty clean, snapped my shifters, broke the bike & wheel under me (not mine), Bike i landed on spoke shaved my cheek and got a lil cut. Helmet took the brunt, no concussion or anything..tuck n roll baby!! Dumb luck...others..not so much

Could of had a bad day like this guy racing a $12k bike

Yeah. Some duct tape on the tubes, and he's ready to go!

edit: seriously, what's that guy going to do? Just eat the loss? Can you insure your bikes against things like that? Will homeowners insurance cover it?

LMFAO!!! Seriously, though, there are places that can/will fix that...

I really like that Giro Attack Helmet with the built-in shade/visor; it would really simplify my life (it sucks carrying around two pairs of glasses). And it doesn't look half bad.

And they are fairly inexpensive now. Matte black camo (since it's not in my team colors)

I want a MIPS helmet that's available in reflective white paint. I have cash sitting right here, I'd buy it tonight. Why is there no such thing? I'm starting to think I need a separate night helmet.

I think it would depend what type of insurance he puts on that bike, for roughly that level of bike I'd have a policy on it IMO...$20-60 a month would give good peace of mind. Nor would I race it.....if I can ever afford it.

But for the most part you eat the cost....toasted bike is part of racing cost. Why general rule is race something you can replace. Also why CAAD10s are super duper popular for crits. Most people that race could get a CAAD easy w/o too much hassle and transfer parts vs a Sworks build up with DI2 and wizzy zipp wheels
@IBOHUNT ....yes I agree and haven't been jazzed up to race like that again. All three of my roadie crashes were at the hands of someone else's mistakes.

I suppose I should clarify. Most helmets I see aren't dorky...however, most helmets don't fit me. The only helmet I've found that actually fits my skull looks like it's made for people who need to be supervised, if you know what I mean. Seriously ugly.

For whatever reason, my skull is of normal width, but it's long, front to back. Most XXL helmets I've found are both too wide but not long enough. I think it's my alien DNA manifesting itself or something.

You mean Alien DNA...

Seriously, what I know of motorcycle helmets, and I have no reason to believe that the bike helmet companies operate differently, is that they manufacture for round (depth = width) aka the Asian fit or regular (depth > width) fit. You appear to be the third ( depth >> width) type aka the arex fit...

TT's are a beautiful thing. You get to race you.
Did me a 20 minute test today. Was awesome to be in full TT mode.

What purpose does this cap serve under a helmet if your wearing glasses.

didnt realize this was the whole helmet but looks like a cap and is this just to keep the sun out of your eyes because most other helmets dont have this that i have seen.
