Clyde Biggest Loser To Be Started Jan 1, 2016
EDIT: I've decided against this. I'll just do this locally where intentions can be clear. If someone wants to pick this up and run it then that would be good.

I say a set price buy in, maybe 10 bucks, $5 to the top male, and $5 to the top mail. (by percentage of body weight, not just total lb's lost)
Payin, and payout by paypal.
I think the first and final weigh in have to be captured by a photo, You know a picture of you on the scale.
Do whatever diet works for you.
I like the idea of January 1, 2016 - April 1, 2016.
I will join this, we are doing one at work that has a $50.00 buy in, and it runs until memorial day. I am donating all of my winnings to ADA Tour De Cure. (Noticed I say when?)

Percentage is how I would do it. Nothing is actually 100% "fair" but it's the best "fair" that can be achieved.
One year we did a graduated payout to ensure that the weight was kept off and someone just didn't sweatbox it off the last few days. However if people want to not adhere to the spirit of the game then that's the breaks I suppose.

Im not sure how to make things equal either. Men typically tho not always have the ability to lose weight at a better rate then women...generally speaking. I've seen weight loss contests at work and they are always won by a man. I will likely not participate because right now I have the motivation and discipline of a sack of potatoes.

I'm not in, but that's because I am truly comfy with where I am. And I won't binge between now and new year's just so I can take it back off!
One suggestion / request / supplication: please, for the love of all that is holy to all, keep this positive. The show whose name you picked up here quickly falls into a sort of superficial and shame-focused nastiness. That's not what this place is about. Weight issues in North America are so embroiled in acceptance, body image, self-worth that we can very easily go negative if we're not careful.
I'd recommend your #1 rule be to always be positive and supportive. Since you're here I'm pretty sure that's the plan. Just feels better to have it be explicit.
Putting the soapbox away...carry on.

If it's a contest on a bike forum, seems silly to have real money involved. Why yes, I did just lose 500 lbs. At least, you don't know the difference, right?
Personally, I'm working on losing weight, but should be about there by New Year's, so it's a moot point for me.

It's about accountability and reward. It's not about the money, it's about the power of having $5 at stake and here and there you get $1.

Sounds like me right now maybe we can rev it up just before Festive 500 so I don't die pedaling that week...

That's unfortunate.
I plan on crushing it after the New Year, Full Keto, balls to the wall. I am planning on seriously ramping up my mileage. from 27 max, to a metric century.

Why celabrate losing weight, Can't we just be happy as a Clyde. I've just passed 20000 miles on my main ride and still weigh exactly what I weighed when I started five years ago. The Government charts say I'm 30 pounds overweight but no matter what I always have weighed the same. I do lose up to seven pounds on fully hydrated ride, but it comes back quickly. Been 225 for 30 years and probably gonna stay that way. By the way I am the "goat" of my group. First up the hills, no matter what.

You are right. People are different. So boring if not that way, As long as my blood pressure was good and I could get up and move around I would always be happy. Easy to lose weight just take in less calories than you use. Wait thats not working for me. Its against physics. But i take in 2200 calories a day and ride 120 miles per week. Theory says I should of evaporated. Maybe we should strive to be what others say we should be. Sounds like marriage. Maybe its just genetics and we shouldn't be fat shamed into dieting and supplementing and obsessing and worrying about our weight. If you want to lose weight there is probably nothing better than just putting on bike miles and eating sensibly. That is life changing for most. No soft drinks, processed foods, or fried foods should do it. Works for most. Not for some. Good luck whatever weight you are searching for. I guess I am just stuck where I am and I'm gonna be happy here.
