I rode through the base yesterday. No issues getting in but they reminded us that new regulations will be in effect "soon".

I've received no confirmation email but had no problem entering the base today. My driver license was scanned and I was cleared to enter.
There is a double century that is supposed to be riding through the base on the 20th (Camino Real Double). I wonder how they will handle that.

Howdy All;
If you do a Google search for Real ID and the Military you'll see that they are cracking down.
Was curious as to the why behind the need for a Pizza joint on this forum. Here in N.M. our
Driver Licenses are NOT compliant and access to Military bases is being cut-off on March 1.
Good news is if you have a Birth Cert. SSCard or other "Proof" that you are who you say you
are and are a citizen then I reckon they'll have some sort of temp ID.
Being as Cal. IS a Real ID compliant State only those that visit might need to see if their DL is ok.
Here's a quick Link to Home Land page;
https://www.dhs.gov/real-id-enforcement-brief
Ya will still need to search the Military for their newer statement about implementation.

I think most bases are really strict on access.
But this one we're talking about is really large and expands 30miles from north San Diego to South part of Orange County. Only other way to bypass the base is the I5 or a boat. Thousands of cyclist a day use the base to connect those two cities for pleasure ride or commuting. I'm glad they know this and has gone out of the way to design a cyclist policy for Camp Pendleton.
